For women living with HIV, The Women's Lighthouse Project (WLP) is a beacon of hope, support, advocacy and understanding. Serving Colorado women and their families since 1997, the mission of WLP is to support and empower women to live and thrive with HIV through education, advocacy and community.
WLP offers a diverse range of services to their clients, including mentoring and support as clients make their way through the medical and social service systems, education for incarcerated women and staff at the Denver Women's Correctional Facility, and free rapid HIV testing. WLP also maintains the Beacon's Boutique where clients can shop for household items and clothing for no cost. Referrals to additional support for pregnant women living with HIV are also provided.
Help support the mission and work of WLP by registering to be a part of WLP's signature fundraising event - Cook-Off for a Cause 2010. This will be an evening filled with food, wine tastings, cooking demonstrations, music and lots of fun. Hosted by Molly Hughes from CBS 4 and guest auctioneer Doug Tisdale, the event will pair local chefs with local celebrities to create culinary masterpieces. Kitchen tours, cocktails and heavy appetizers will also be available.
This event takes place this Friday March 12, 2010. Tickets are $75 each and includes parking and two drinks. College students with ID are $35. The event will take place at the University of Denver School of Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management. Register today!
