Remember Me, Robert Pattinson, overshadows New Moon

As New Moon breaks records, attention should be brought to a trailer with a release date in March of 2010. No, not Eclipse, but rather Remember Me, a film which could legitimize Robert Pattinson as an actor and not just a Teen Beat cover boy.

Remember Me is filled with an amazing cast: the impeccable, Academy Award winner Chris Cooper, Pierce Brosnan and Lena Olin. Robert is enlisted to play Tyler, a poetic misfit, who wants to be his own man but does not know how to find the path to becoming one. His father, portrayed by Brosnan, does not know what to do with him, which only leads to Tyler’s greater alienation.

Until, he meets Ally who gives him a spark at a real relationship. She is quirky as is he, so it just might be ideal. That is, until her father played by Cooper steps in as the cop who busted Tyler earlier on with whom only tensions rise between them as Tyler’s relationship with Ally grows.

Yes, this sounds like every other lost teenage romance film, with the idea of “To hell with everyone else!” This film is directed by Allen Coulter who has directed primarily television shows (as well as the very underrated Hollywoodland) but therein lies the potential strength of this film. His resume includes The Sopranos, Rome (HBO), Six Feet Under and Sex in the City. All of these shows have one major thread in common. They are very character-driven. Which is good news for Pattinson fans.

Additionally, the movie will bring together a formidable love interest in Emilie de Ravin who plays Ally. She has great charisma and shines forth on the screen. This will be a much better pairing than Robert and Kristen, screen-wise.

If the trailer is any indication, Remember Me promises to be the one film Pattinson does that will not be forgotten.

I agree one hundred percent about Remember Me. Going to be a huge stepping stone for Rob. I think this film going to do well ... It looks like a role that Rob could sink his teeth into.

I enjoyed this review right up until the better pairing than Rob and Kristen comment. You can't deny the chemistry there. But good article anyway.

With little prep time for RM, Rob is basically playing himself. And since I fell in love with Rob for his winning personality through his interviews via YouTube et al, I will surely love him in this.

Thanks for the article! The trailer looks amazing and I can't wait for the film. It looks so wonderful and Rob is going to be able to prove what a great actor he really is. Is it March yet?

it's a good post but not digging on the chemistry...by the way ks*rp chemistry is great theirs no question about that whether they just staring or kissing it sparkles theirs no need for sex scene...their chemistry on screen is undeniably hotter so sean callahan who wrote that i think you have a problem....
ks*rp chemistry is something you can not describe it's just so special....when your watching this two you can't help falling in love with the right next person to you that's why a lot of fans are hard to separate their personal life.they forgot that they are just acting because they got carried away of their chemistry in the movei...so theirs abig difference between emelei chemistry because in that moveithey have sex scene it's a rated indei movei...so get your better reveiw again it's a little dissappointing

Her name is Kristen, not Kristin. ;) However, I tend to agree with you that this movie looks amazing. Rob is an amazingly talented actor. As far as diversity - he's already proven he can go above and beyond "Teen Beat". Rob's portrayal of Edward Cullen brings a depth to the character, but I don't see Edward when I watch Little Ashes, or How to Be. Rob's already done great things and Remember Me looks to be a continuation of that trend. :)

Are you high? More chemistry than Rob and Kristen, from the pics this summer and the trailer, I highly doubt it, but you can dream. Kristen Stewart has got way more acting chops than that TV actress who is not even believeable as a college student. Remains to be seen if Rob can carry a movie the way the Kristen does. I certainly hope he can live up to the hype and pressure. Right now he's pretty much just a pretty face pinup boy.

I don't think he was saying R & K don't have charisma. Or did I missread it? I though he was saying Emilie will be better with R than K. And he didn't say they had bad chemistry. I liked the trailer and hope it will be good.

Rob is playing himself in this movie. Fangirls will love. Other than that he looks constipated throughout. This movie has been done. Its called "Ordinary People". Check it out...made about 30 years ago. Lame story, lame leads.

Looking forward to the movie...the review was good, but I disagree with his comment on Rob's chemistry w/Kristen...he's dead wrong.

Oh come on, don´t be jealous fangirls. R&K chemistry is fine, but Robert and Emilie chemistry is there, it´s maybe even better than the Twi-one, if we see it through the lenses of REAL life. The relationship Ally and Tyler have is not only about chemistry, but a real, down-to-Earth relationship. Tyler finds Ally when he´s lost in life, with no course navigated. She shows him the path. They fall in love, a real life love. Not a fantasy created by SM. Gah.

I'm looking forward to seeing Rob in this film and definitely without Kristen Stewart. I love Rob as Edward but she is definitely not Bella. But mostly I wanna see Rob in a contemporary movie in a realistic relationship and he looks good in the trailer with Emilie DeRavin.

I can't wait to see Rob in other movie apart from the Twilight Saga. The trailer looks impressive and Rob looks amazing!!

I think this movie will help Robert. I hope he continues to suprise his fans with his uncoventional choices in films. As for the comment about Kristen having more acting chops, she has been acting a lot longer then Robert, and she has won some awards. But she still has not been noticed by the ones that count. One of their co stars already has a Golden Globe nod, and Kristen has never been nominated. I don't know if she ever will. But if The Runaways is a good as the trailer looks she may be on her way next year as well.

I've seen Robert Pattinson in the Haunted Airman and in Little Ashes and although he is "famous" for portraying Edward Cullen the brooding beautiful vampire ( and rightfully so ) he's a really talented actor. I admire his choices and in challenging himself. The Remember Me trailer looks great. Of course the fact that Robert Pattinson is portraying Tyler is definitely the attraction for me but I'm also an admirer of the rest of the cast and I'm familiar with their work as well. March can't come soon enough for me.
