Though Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina was castigated for yelling “You Lie!” in the middle of the President’s health care speech, the Senate is now caving to his demands and inserting anti-illegal immigration language into the health care reform bills, according to the Huffington Post.
Once again, we see a supposedly weakened and irrelevant Republican Party still managing to roll the spineless Obama Democratic Party, even though the Dems hold nearly one hundred more seats in Congress.
The Senate Finance Committee, chaired by odious Montana Republicrat Max Baucus, met today to discuss ways of denying health insurance benefits to illegal immigrants.
Given that free health care for the undocumented has contributed to spiraling health care costs for everybody else, this is perhaps a welcome development, even as it demonstrates the spinelessness of the Obamacratic Party.

But I'm confused. After a day of listening to how wrong Joe Wilson is, are the Democrats saying he was he right all along by adopting his position?
Obama had said during his speech that he would not provide benefits to illegal immigrants, prompting Wilson’s now infamous outburst.
Obama was too scared to call out Wilson for his poor social graces, but Obama’s allies on the left wasted no time casting aspersions on Wilson’s larger point that illegal immigrants would indeed continue to game the system, with or without Obamacare.
But just as Sarah Palin’s “death panel” Facebook notes forced Democrats to remove end-of-life care counseling from the proposals, Joe Wilson appears to be winning the issue.
Remember, Joe Wilson is supposed to be a rude, classless, racist, right-wing demagogue – the crackpot face of the Republicans.
Yet Joe the Crackpot will, like Sarah Palin, get exactly what he wants: health coverage reserved for those with verified legal citizenship status.
Those who actually want real reform that includes a public option, however, will once again be left out in the cold.
Why does the purportedly fanatical right-wing keeps winning, while the reasonable progressive left keeps losing? Obama and the Democrats have no courage.
Maybe it is time for everybody else to start heckling the President. Maybe then we would get real health care reform instead of a giveaway to the private health insurance industry.

Joe Wilson WAS right. Without verification, this bill will give millions of illegal immigrants health card coverage. I'm grateful that someone was astute enough to tell it like it is. The many bills also state that if ONE family member is a citizen (anchor baby) the whole family is eligible for government funded coverage if they meet the poverty requirements. Well, guess what, they all meet the poverty requirements because their money is NEVER declared. The only money they are forced to declare is their government sponsored benefits like Welfare, food stamps etc. taken for their ANCHOR baby citizens. They are on line for EVER subsidized benefit available to their citizen children including Medi-Cal.
Here's another... citizens will be REQUIRED to buy health insurance.... they will be fined if they don't.... but illegal immigrants WON'T be required to buy health insurance and won't be fined. That's some deal. Citizens must abide by the rules and illegal immigrants don't.

while I disagree with your initial sentiment, I share your distaste of required health insurance.
Obama equates in his speech that health insurance will be akin to requirements in many states to buy auto insurance if you drive. But, driving an auto on public (gasp) roads is not a right, but a privilege. You don't have to buy auto insurance if you don't drive.
Requiring people to buy health insurance is slippery federal government intrusion, and i don't like it.
I'm actually surprised that this point hasn't garnered more attention. (I smell another obama article for dk).
If Joe Wilson was so wrong, then why are the Dumbocrats changing the language in the bill now? Hmmm, guess he wasn't so wrong after all. I have also heard about the illegals not having to buy insurance, although I'm not sure why. Can someone clarify that here? Thanks

Illegal immigrants broke the law coming here by not using the proper methods and process. It is not fair for those who did come here legally. They do not pay property, federal, state, or local taxes. They get free emergency care while the rest of us citizens have to pay for it. No other country in the world rewards those who go to their country illegally. If anything you get a big foot in your you know where. They get free education, free welfare, free government programs, and we pay for their incarceration. It is just too much for a city, state, or country to deal with. They came here because they get so much for free, while we pay for it in our tax money. It is not fair, and it is time that it stops.
Joe Wilson is a hero, he spoke up when no one else would, and brought attention to Obama not being fully honest. If anything, people should be mad that Obama stood there and lied to the American people.

I am black, a Blue Dog Democrat, and a resident of the District of Columbia. I am glad to see U.S. citizens get off their behinds and take to the streets protesting for what they believe in and against President Obama's healthcare plan. The illegal aliens and their supporters took over many U.S. cities streets last year protesting and demanding citizenship and amnesty for illegal aliens. Our country is heading in the wrong direction. To be honest, neither the Democrats nor the Republicans are listening or working in the interest of the citizenry. All U.S. citizens should take to the streets in protest regardless of their party affiliation and overthrow and fire Congress.
Congratulations fellow Americans for taking a stand on an important issue that will effect all U.S. citizens. This is our country and we must take it back, because it's beginning to look like a foreign country and Spanish will be the dominate language being spoken.
Let's say Wilson was right. Democrats are closing any loopholes that may allow illegals to access these health care program. Why isnt that a bad thing? The government is actually listening to criticism and react to it instead of blaming you as the problem, like what we have for the last 8 years. And moreover, the fact they are actively closing these loopholes would indicate they have no ideology about allowing the illegals to access the program in the first place.

"Immigrant" and "illegal alien" are not the same thing. Immigrants are legally in this country. Illegal aliens are illegally in this country. Illegal aliens are lawbreakers who deserve nothing more than to be arrested and deported.
The Undocumented Immigrants pay the exact same amount of taxes like you and me when they buy Things, rent a house, fill up gas, drink a beer or wine, buy appliances, play the states lottery and mega millions .
