Was Joe Wilson correct in saying that Obama was not being truthful about his plans to give government health insurance to illegal immigrants?

The Washington Times is making waves in the blogosphere today, reporting that Obama’s simple fix for the dilemma of illegal immigrant health care is to…wait for it…legalize them!
This will no doubt disappoint both those xenophobes who hoped health care reform legislation would include provisions requiring Americans to prove legal status before receiving treatment and those hippies who would rather the President’s sudden legalization kick focus instead on pot.

In a speech Wednesday, Obama again denied he intends to provide health care to illegal immigrants, but – according to some – declared that meant illegal immigrants should be legalized so they are eligible for health coverage:
“Even though I do not believe we can extend coverage to those who are here illegally, I also don’t simply believe we can simply ignore the fact that our immigration system is broken. That’s why I strongly support making sure folks who are here legally have access to affordable, quality health insurance under this plan, just like everybody else. If anything, this debate underscores the necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform and resolving the issue of 12 million undocumented people living and working in this country once and for all.”
Obama also apparently went further, breaking from Bill Clinton’s landmark welfare reform bill and arguing that the government should open federal assistance programs to anyone in the country legally and not just citizens and long-term, established immigrants.
Of course the speech was given before the Congressional Hispanic Caucus – a group relatively sympathetic to the plight of illegal immigrant – so it may just be another example of Obama’s empty.
Still, the specter of amnesty gives more ammunition to critics of Obamacare and the suspicious, anti-illegal immigration Joe Wilsons of the world. Politically, Obama made what could prove a costly mistake in raising that specter.

YES, that is why he could say with a straight face that "his" plan would not cover illegal aliens. After all is said and done with "his" immigration plans, there WILL BE NO ILLEGAL ALIENS!
Joe Wilson was absolutely correct although inappropriately rude. It appears it has long been the plan of the political and influential elite to create the North American Union (combining US, Mexico, and Canada). We seen the foundation for this built with the passage of NAFTA and GATT. Those that said NAFTA and GATT was good for us said that these measures would create more jobs for Americans. What actually happened was the exportation of productive capacity, jobs, and the outrageous importation of foreign labor. The American worker was the big time loser. So yes D.K. the possibility of legalizing illegal immigrants is very plausible and probable. We have to watch all the politicians very closely and read between the lines of every speech. Its terrible we have to do this but when our national sovereignty, freedom, and way of life are at stake we have no choice. Our only other option is to demand recall elections to remind politicians they work for us, not the other way around.

Comprehensive immigration reform resolved once and for all?
What does THAT mean?
Sound to me like the same story I heard in 1986 from president Ronald Reagan. Once and for all didn't work that time, clearly we still have a GIANT problem with illegal immigrants jumping the border and living and working here illegally.
How about enforcement that works? With strict, effective enforcement, the masses of illegal immigrants that have come here for jobs won't find jobs and will self deport.
Those who are able to apply for citizenship and pass the rigorous background checks can stay and work. Citizenship take over 10 years of waiting. Anyone who was previously deported and returned will be permanently barred from legal status in this country along with any other criminals who have broken our laws and served time in our prison system. That seems fair.
I think obama and his thugs better learn we DO NOT want AMNESTY! What we want is our immigration laws ENFORCED! Why can't obama see that illegal aliens are destroying this Country? You have 20 million illegal aliens in this Country and how many millions of Americans are out of work? How many BILLIONS are sent out of this Country by the illegal aliens? Illegal aliens get FREE healthcare now. Could this be part of our healthcare crisis? I thing we have to get the illegal aliens out of this Country. Only then will our problems of the illegal aliens be over. That is a FACT!
Watch these and read the SEIU site for Obama's true intent. Obama, ACORN/SEIU are inextricably tied.
