Fewer Americans believe global warming is real, still think God is

(AP)
Global Warming advocates are going to need Sunday services and a lot more preaching to win converts back.
The Washington Post reports that the percentage of Americans who believe global warming is happening has dropped eight percentage points in the past year to 72 percent.
The findings suggest Americans are growing more skeptical of the science surrounding the issue at a time when Democrats are trying to pass climate legislation and the world is preparing for a global summit on the issue in Copenhagen next month.
Polling experts say the declining numbers suggest Americans are viewing the issue more through a political lens than a scientific one --wow, there's a shocker!
Still, a majority does believe the United States should cut its emissions, even if developing countries don't follow suit.

Meanwhile, a recent ABC News/Washington Post poll found:
   --92 percent believe in God
   --74 percent believe in Satan
--75 percent believe there is a Heaven
--55 percent believe in "the Rapture"

Global warming is a fact. It is NOT caused by humans and that is what is in contention.

The earth started its last warming period about 12000 years ago when the ice sheet that covered most of N America started its retreat. If it had not, we would not be living north of Pa.

With the documented FRAUD being perpetrated by the "scientists" ALL GW legislation must stop until the thousands of documents can be investigated in what is the largest scientific fraud case ever.

Chef: Maybe it's a little of both --nature and man made. I'm no expert but I think our real problem is that everyone has to be a jerk and politicize the issue. That's the problem with every damned issue. It's always ends up politicized. We don't trust politicians because we think they spin everything, yet we use their same tactics to parse out all these issues, making us no better than them. I just wish the politicos and the pundits would shut up on this issue, lock all the scientists in a room and let them reach a conclusion based on their professional expertise (which is kinda what you said). I'm sure they can reach a common ground and then we can move forward. Screaming "hoax" or getting into this name calling stupidity just doesn't get anyone anywhere --except at each others throats.

I agree Bruce but as we have seen, we cannot even trust the "scientists".

I keep going back to the ice sheet that covered N America just yesterday in geologic time! About 12000 years ago. It melted thank God and we were able to populate this continent.

If you believe in God, dont you need to believe in satan? Do they not both exist as polar opposites? interesting survey. Glad to see the high numbers for people believing that there is some form of creator. Its more realistic to me than matter and life to come from nowhere in my humble opinion.

Chef - I was just thinking the same thing. I don't want scientists who are mouthpieces for Exxon or some green group. They should be thoroughly vetted and if all they come up with is that they can't agree on a single conclusion, I'm okay with that. At least then we'd know SOMEthing based on pure scientific data and then decide a course from there. Maybe that course is a "better safe than sorry" approach --I don't know. And I get what you're saying about the ice sheets but since then, the planet population has grown enormously. I can't see how that hasn't impacted the climate, but that's just me trying to measure this logically, not with scientific data. I just don't want to hear the "I'm right and you're wrong" argument. Mostly, that's all we seem to get about global warming and about everything else. Oy! Enough of that already! --B

Is that not ALL we have heard from the High Priest of GW/CC?
"The science is settled." "There is no disputing the facts."

I will contact you soon Bruce.

AGW/CC is the biggest scam ever perpetrated on the American people, designed with the dual purpose of relieving us of the rest of our money and furthering the anti capitalist anti American global agenda.

Al Gore makes Bernie Madoff look like a piker.

Anyone who doesn't understand that isn't paying attention.
