At long last, 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' has arrived in theatres for its much anticipated release Scores of reviews are now in, and they seem to be split between positive and negative. 30% of Tomatometer Critics at RottenTomatoes.com, gave 'New Moon' a positive review. Of course, it is still very early on for the results to be fairly representative of an overall consensus. The bottom line is, reviews are coming in, and everyone from the Vatican to well known critics have their opinions.
The following is a brief list of some of the 'New Moon' reviews, reported by huffingtonpost.com:
Rogert Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times: "Since they know it all and we know all, sitting through this experience is like driving a pickup in low gear though a sullen sea of Brylcreem."
Claudia Puig of USA Today: "New Moon, the film version, does nothing to add depth to a shallow tale."
Laremy Legel of Film.com says 'New Moon' is :"a treat, a legitimate artistic expression on love, loss, and the obsessive qualities of initial attraction."
MTV's Kurt Loder: "'New Moon' is a notable improvement over 'Twilight,'" noting there's "not quite so much moony young-adult yearning (although Lord knows there's enough of it); and there's a little more action."
Even the Vatican has an opinion. Monsignor Franco Perazzolo, the Vatican's culture council leader released a statement saying of 'New Moon': "This theme of vampires in Twilight combines a mixture of excesses that, as ever is aimed at young people and gives a heavy esoteric element." He adds, "This film is nothing more than a moral vacuum with a deviant message and as such should be of concern."

I just saw the movie last night, and i have to give credit where credit is deserved. New moon is more action-packed, the characters are more believable, and it does not drag you through the plot like the film before it.
i'm a huge team jacob fan. i LOVED this movie. not just becuase there is more Jacob, but because there is more entertainment, more better computer generations with the wolves. =] and the actors dont seem like their... well... acting. LOVED this movie. go team Jacob! oh and Edward rocks. too. =]
I loved the movie. Chris Weitz did a great job directing the actors and pacing the film - bringing out the themes of first love, heartache, selfishness vs. self-sacrifice in a world with vampires and werewolves just as the books were able to do. Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner's portrayal of Bella and Jacob was so believable - I never doubted them once. Targeted at teens and hugely popular does not a bad movie make. I am so reminded how some reviewers hated Star Wars when it first came out. If you cannot use your imagination to envision a world with vampires and werewolves mixed in with teenage romantic heartbreak maybe this movie is not for you. But not to worry - the rest of us true romantics will enjoy it without you. One thing here to note is that while so many teen actors fail by overacting and are criticized for it - Kristen Stewart continues to deliver beautiful and understated performances which I find riveting. I can't wait to see the movie again.
i thought the film was great! Chris Weitz has done sucha good job and so did kirsten stewart, robert pattinson and taylor lautner! x
The vatican - HAH!
What a bunch of boobs.
Just saw New Moon. Loved it! The reviewers have clearly gone in with a bias and are trying to sound like they are high brow and anyone who likes the Twilight series are immature adolescents who don't have a clue or their mothers....well, I am not an adolescent and have an honors degree in literature so not a dummy by any means....not a snob either, like the reviewers so go out and see it and make up your own mind.
I thought the movie was really great! However, i really hope my voice is heard when i say i absolutely hated the drastic eye color change, especially on Edward. Bella always described his eyes as being a beautiful topaz NOT a creepy yellow!! The eyes really bothered me and i hope there not like that for the last two movies! Other than that i thought everyone did a great job! Just fix the eyes
I really loved New Moon!! The entire film was great and the actors did a great job too. I will probably see it again. Even though im on team Edward, I have to admit Jacob looked pretty good in the movie. I like Jacob but Im all on Team Edward!!
Twilight New Moon is without doubt one of the worst films in the history of cinema.
To call it mind-numbing idiocy is to do a disservice to mind-numbing idiocy.
Maybe the vatican should be stopping priest from raping kids instead of reviewing movies and telling people what to think.
I think the movie was killed by this horrible music that was used for the last third of it. I can handle all the rest (more or less), but this music definitely drives me nuts.
It is more than I can handle.
