ABC Obama-free tonight

"Pushing Daisies" might be your only alternative tonight.

We told you how the Democratic presidential nominee bought up all sorts of prime time on the broadcast networks tonight.  Obama is even pushing back the start time for (now) Game 5 of the World Series!

But, one network whose scheduling will not be adjusted this evening is ABC.  The Disney-owned broadcaster will instead air a regularly scheduled episode of their series "Pushing Daisies."

Two weeks ago, Obama's campaign approached the major broadcast networks with an unusual half-hour ad buy for this evening's broadcast.  CBS and NBC sold the campaign the 8PM time slot.  Fox negotiated a million-dollar purchase after they cleared the schedule change with Major League Baseball.  MSNBC is also on board with the 8PM program.

ABC held out.  Evidently, the network approached the Obama-Biden campaign with alternative time slots, but they were not interested.  Once ABC was willing to adjust their scheduling to sell a half-hour slot this evening at 8PM, the Obama campaign said they had already allocated the money elsewhere.

So, if you are looking for an alternative to the Democratic "Road Block" progamming, tune into ABC.  If you don't know or like the series "Pushing Daisies" I don't know what to tell you.

Please correct the misperception that Obama's infomercial pushed back the World Series. There was only the preemption of the pre-game show by Fox. The World Series has started after 8:30 p.m. for the first three games.

    Ken,
I appreciate your interest in the story. One Obama rep spoke to Politico and told them the World Series was not moving. However, several sources quote both MLB and FOX execs saying the first pitch was delayed to accomodate the ad buy. (http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/10/15/obama-takes-heat-for-delaying-world-series-game/ and http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/television/news/e3ifa25645bfd6bcf91b52ef4f665b661f5 to name a couple)

The start time for the World Series was not pushed back. The pre-game show interrupted for the ad. Please get your facts straight.
