Every company needs a symbol or oftentimes, a character we can back to it. Can you really imagine McDonalds without Ronald McDonald, Geico without the geico lizard, or the Philadelphia Phillies without the Phillie fanatic? You get the drift here. As a society we associate companies with not only what they can do for us, but who is the popular face of the brand.
Well last Friday, July 24, 2009, Philadelphia had a small, but big visit when the Travelocity gnome arrived in the City of Brotherly Love. The visit came as a result of voters logging onto the Travelocity site widely known for services such as airfare, hotel accomdations, cruises and much more. The gnome, who apparently had been traveling all over the country, landed in Philadelphia after the city won as the next stop over Boston and Washington, DC on the "Summer of Possibilities" tour. He was spotted this week in Wakiki when he was chosen to visit Hawaii next over popular vacation hot spots like Jamaica and Cancun.
According to NBC.com, the little guy made a stop at City Hall lhis first night in town but had a day full of fun planned tlast Saturday when he toured the city with Daily News' Joe Sixpack, enjoying a Phillies game and stopping by Philly hotspots such as McGillin's Olde Ale House, The Franklin Institute, the Philadelphia Zoo and going on a cheeseteak tour (as any vistor to Philadelphia must do).
The Travelocity gnome will be spotted all over the city as he ended his stay in the city on Monday.
