Chili's responds to Steve Carell's 'appetite' for Outback

As many of you may have seen during last week's ESPY awards, Steve Carell and Paul Rudd parodied the hour-long ESPN special where (former) Cleveland Cavalier LeBron James announced his decision to sign with the Miami Heat.

In the spoof, Carell revealed that he was, in fact, taking his appetite to Outback Steakhouse... and abadoning Chili's.

It was, in a word, hilarious.

No less funny is the response from Chili's which appeared today, parody-ing Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert's 'morning after' response to James' decision.

GIlbert's open letter has been blasted by just about everyone this side of Lake Erie, both for its scathing (and petulant) content and (even worse) for its use of the Comic Sans font.

Chili's satirical response to Carell's decision is pure marketing genius. Comic sans, petulant tone, and chock-full of very clever lines, including this gem:

"This shocking act of disloyalty from our homegrown 'funny man' sends the exact opposite flavor of what we would want our children to taste. And 'where' we would want them to go out and eat."

View Chili's entire letter here.

The comedy gold of Carell and Chili's makes Lebron and Gilbert look even more pathetic that they already did... which was, admittedly, pretty difficult to do.

Don't know about you, but I may be heading to Chili's sometime real soon.

To quote those guys from the Guinness ads, "Brilliant!"
