China's golden pair won a long-overdue gold medal for China in Monday night's pairs' figure skating final and America's Bode Miller, the nation's most decorated Alpine skier, won a bronze in the men's downhill.

China's Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo broke Russia's 46-year hold on Olympic gold medals in pairs' figure skating. The pair came out of retirement to try for the fourth time to win Olympic gold. This time, they were successful.

"This is a dream come true, we've had this dream for many many years. Every time we heard the anthem or saw the flag (when we won something), we wished it was the Olympic Games," said Zhao, a three-times world champion with Shen.

Xue and Hongbo, husband and wife off the ice, said afterwards that they plan to turn their attention to having a baby. "I think it's hard to continue skating so maybe it's time to have a baby," Shen told a news conference on Monday.

China had a double celebration when Pang Qing and Tong Jian claimed the silver medal. German pairs' skaters Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy won the bronze.

Miller finished his downhill run  with a time of 1:54.40 seconds, just .09 second behind surprising Swiss gold medalist Didier Défago.

"It was fun. It was really tough. It was really nervous this morning," Miller said. "Once I got going I felt really really solid. It was hard for me to push without making mistakes. I skied really well at the top but I was pushing too hard"

American Seth Wescott won the second U.S. gold of the Games, coming in first in snowboard cross. Wescott draped himself in a flag given to his late grandfather by the U.S. military.

"That was part of the motivation to get to this moment," Wescott said. "I brought it so if I got to this moment, I'd have it here."

The Winter Olympics continue tonight with men's figure skating short program, women's 500 meters speedskating, women's snowboard cross final and Alpine skiing-men's super combined.

The Olympics air on NBC at 7 pm CST, KARK Channel 4 in Little Rock.
