Some of the biggest celebrities in the world gathered at the Jim Henson Studios in Los Angeles Monday to remake the best-selling single, "We Are the World" for the survivors of the Haiti earthquake.

The video premiere will take place during the Opening Ceremonies for the Vancouver Olympics February 12 on NBC (KARK Ch. 4 in Little Rock).

Quincy Jones was able to gather the brightest stars from Sunday night's Grammy Awards, including the Jonas Brothers, Pink, Celine Dion, Wyclef Jean, Sugarland, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Zac Brown, Jennifer Hudson, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus.

Other celebrities include Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Vince Vaughn, Jamie Foxx and Natalie Cole. A total of 100 celebrities took part; none of the original 45 were part of the remake, according to Smokey Robinson.

Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson co-wrote the song, which was recorded in 1985 and went on to earn $30 million for African humanitarian aid.

Im all for helping people. Why not hold a telethon for the ones in need here. Like the elderly and poor and the ones that are sick and don't have medical or cant afford it. That would be a good start to health reform.

God is the one who sent the earthquake. He's the same God that sent the flood in Noah's day...the same God that opened the Red Sea in the day of Moses. What is He saying to the World? Yes we should help but...we should must we require Him to move in such powerful ways in order for us to show love? NO!
We've got people/family/friends in our own neighborhood that we ignore...everyday. What are we going to do beyond this moment?

Poverty exist for a reason, the lack of education and resources to all exist for a reason. The point of this outreach was not because of those issues but because of the massive earthquake that tore a once in their own way productive society and brought it down to nothing. YES, there are families in America who live off of nothing a day, just like in 3rd world countries, but it is not their fault we have let our government and own greed produce our outcome. We have the resources once educated on them, other countries do not have that option. As an American, of course we are selfish but look at the issue at hand not the selfish thoughts you have right now. Many have died because of a natural disaster.....need I say Katrina......almost $8 million has been raised in America alone, I say that's a clear sign that we pick and choose the battles in which we want to address and fight.

I agree with earlier posts. It is so great that American celebrities have been so generous in efforts to help the people of Haiti, but we have so much work still to do in America on a daily basis. In the current economic situation, all non-profit groups that help America's needy are in dire straits. If all Americans were more generous on a daily basis, and we made significant strides in solving our issues, I would then support every penny sent to other countries.

I just think its good that these artists - role models for our kids - are doing something positive. It may be just a song, a telethon, but its soooo much better to see them do this than the gutter-level hits most of them are putting out. And I think them coming together on this, from all the music types, is very special. Young people need to see them do these things.

Hey Mr HMC. wait a minute!! what kind of theology you're uttering here to say that GOD sent the earthquake! where in the Bible did you find that God is still putting His wrath upon mankind via natural calamity?....you mentioned the Flood.....Yes...but did you forget the meaning of the rainbow He puts on the sky right after the flood?.....that 's a powerful sign by which God did say that HE will NEVER use natural catastrophy to destroy mankind. Above all the death of Christ on the cross has once for all satisfied the wrath of GOD.God does not exercise HIs wrath anymore through natural desas
ter. Never say those nonsense Brother.God is merciful, full of Love for all nations, He does not punish us according to our trespasses says Ps 103

First and foremost, if you just going to make rude, stupid, and unecessary remarks about the video, what made you decide to watch it? I dont necessarily believe that god sent it, but i do believe things happen for a reason. Maybe this was god's way to test America. No one knows but him. Secondly, "noneofyobeeswax" Im under the impression, the artist remaking this song werent looking for your approval when they agreed to record it. They did this to help people in need. So until YOU do something that can change lives the way those artists have, I find it tedious for you to post dumb ass coments like that. you to "mrcritic". Why dont YOU make a song and see what kind of responses you get.

Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Alicia Keys, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguileria and Naturi Naughton should sing the song "We are the World". I think that will be a mega song.
