The lead singer of Sonic Youth is a GG fan? Yep.
Sonic Youth, the hit musical group, is set to make an appearance on Season 3 of Gossip Girl. The episode will be aired on October 12th and will feature the band playing their 80s classic, "Star Power." Thurston Moore, the singer, songwriter and guitar player of the group is a huge fan of the show and was excited about making a cameo. (StereoGum)
The singer's wife, Kim Gordon and bass player for the group, is also a fan of the show. Moore told Rolling Stone, "It’s sort of our dose of Shakespeare every week." The band had previously recorded a song for the show but didn't actually make an appearance.
Gossip Girl seems to cater to the teen crowd so Moore's love for the show comes as a bit of a shock. A refreshing shock, but a surprise nonetheless. You can catch Gossip Girl on the CW on Mondays at 9pm. The new season debuts on September 14th.
