Today Oprah Winfrey is expected to announce that she will be ending her run as the reigning queen of television in September of 2011.  Winfrey, whose show has been on the air since 1986, will complete her 25th season and then step away  to run her network, The Oprah Winfrey Network.

Over the years Winfrey has been successful in multiple outlets.  Her Oprah Winfrey Book Club produces best sellers, her company, Harpo Studios, produces shows hosted by Dr. Phil McGraw and Rachael Ray, and her magazine O was ranked seventh most popular magazine in 2009.  When it comes to success Oprah is hardly a stranger.

Speculated to be worth around $2.7 billion, Oprah has been on Forbes most powerful celebrity lists for the past few years.  Just recently, however, the South African school Winfrey established was hit by scandal.  In March of 2009 several girls were suspended for sexually harassing other classmates at the all-girls boarding school.  According to the Telegraph.co.uk,

On the back of the assault claims, a tearful Miss Winfrey - who has spoken of being a victim of abuse herself - said: "This has been one of the most devastating experiences, if not the most devastating experience, of my life. But like all such experiences there is much to be learned".

The Oprah Winfrey show airs at 4:00pm EST on Lexington's Channel 27 Newsfirst.

i agree with your mom, she'll never quit working, but why would you if you're that good at what you do? And i'm afraid of the daytime tv vacuum, what hideous out pouring of femminine emotion will fill her hole.
