If you’ve ever wanted to own your own little piece of the film industry, or just snag some interesting décor for your home, here’s your chance.
A tight economy and the growing trend of filming in cheaper locations – which is almost anywhere other than California – have resulted in the closing of a Hollywood institution. 20th Century Props is liquidating its inventory of more than 93,000 film and television props in a huge on-site and on-line auction.
Some of the many props on the block include a large faux stone gargoyle from Hannah Montana, a sarcophagus from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a roulette table from CSI, a model of Air Force One from Independence Day, a phone booth from The Changeling, and a nearly-life-size mock-up of a world war II vintage submarine used in the movie Down Periscope. Other miscellaneous props include the front end of a black and red ‘56 Chevy, a life-size zebra, a 6-foot statue of a catfish chef, and a 7-foot in diameter cookie with the word HUMAN on it.
Items may be inspected on-site July 25 and July 27, 2009, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm and from 8:00 am on the mornings of the sale. Auction dates are July 28 - August 1, 9:30 am each day PDT
20th Century Props is located at 11651 Hart Street, North Hollywood, CA 91605.
