The video of a whale crashing into a boat is amazing and has been released by CBS News. Capturing the pictures of the whale hanging in time over the boat was another amazing shot taken by whale watchers off the coast of South Africa.
This is the time of the year when tourists flock to the coast of South Africa to do some whale watching. The whale watching is best during the winter season, which it is now in this part of the world. The reason these pictures and video were captured is because of the many tourists with cameras ready to snap shots and take video footage of the whales as they breach the water.

It is a fun tourist activity that turned out to be a startling, if not frightening, occasion for a couple on their yacht They watched this whale as it jumped in and out of the water and with each jump it got closer to their boat. The last jump, the whale landed right on top of their boat, snapping the mast into pieces.
Paloma Werner and Ralph Mothes were sailing their yacht, just like the other people boating in the area, watching the whales. They said they did nothing to provoke the whale over towards their boat. The sounds made by the whales as they breach the water is loud and magnificent and is part of the thrill of whale watching. The couple report they were doing nothing but enjoying the sounds and sights of these gigantic mammals flipping their tails and jumping in and out of the water.
Neither one of the couple was hurt and the whale continued on its way appearing to be unaffected by the crash encounter.
According to CBS News live tonight, the South African authorities are now investigating the couple whose boat was smashed by the large whale. They have reports of the couple provoking the whale, what those actions were is unknown at this time, just that the authorities are investigating these reports.
