Exciting news for television and celebrity fans in Fresno.  According to Rick Keller of TVSquad.com, as well as a CBS press release, actor Michael J. Fox will be making an appearance on the Emmy award winning series The Good Wife.

Due to his on-going battle with Parkinson's disease, an appearance on the small screen by Fox has become quite a rare thing, and when he does decide to make a guest appearance, not only does it become exciting news, but often helps boost the ratings of whatever show he's on.

For The Good Wife, Fox will play a lawyer named Simon Canning, who Keller describes as "a cynical litigator who goes against Alicia Florrick -- played by Good Wife Emmy-nominated star Julianna Margulies -- in a class action suit against a large pharmaceutical company."  She also reveals in her article that Fox's character will also be suffering from Parkinson's disease, which he will use to his advantage during the trial to gain sympathy for the huge corporation.

Fox has had a very high-profile television and film career since he was first introduced as Alex P. Keaton on the 1980s series Family Ties.  During production of the show, he launched his film career with possibly his most famous role as Marty McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy.  Other projects he has been involved with include Teen Wolf, The Secret of My Success, Bright Lights, Big City, The Casualties of War, Doc Hollywood, The Frighteners, the two Stuart Little films, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and Spin City.  He has also authored a book in 2009 called "Always Looking Up: The Adventures of an Incurable Optimist."

Television appearances by Fox have been rare since he left the series Spin City back in 2000.  He appeared three years ago as a guest star on Boston Legal, for which he was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.  His last major TV appearance was a multi-episode stint on the FX series Rescue Me, for which he won the Outstanding Guest Actor award.  He also recently appeared on The Colbert Report.

The Good Wife begins it's second season at 10 pm on Tuesday, September 28th.
