Zhu Zhu Pets have just made the Toys "R" Us 2009 Holiday hot toy list, and the Zhu Zhu Pets buying trend shows no sign of slowing down -- set to become the pop culture toy of the year.
This reporter is infinitely familiar with the Zhu Zhu Pets toy hamsters, having been awakened at times from children who've just seen the Zhu Zhu Pets commercial proclaiming, "I want those!"
Tracking down the little clean critters was a job within itself: I called all my local Toys "R" Us stores, Walmart, Target and even a Hallmark store or two, finally finding them in stock first at a Walmart store 9 miles away from my home.
That's the only way I could find the Zhu Zhu Pets for their retail price of $8 each -- by calling and calling and calling around. (Folks who don't have the time nor inclination to do that have been flocking to Amazon.com in droves to get their new fake pets toys.)
Adding my name to Toys "R" Us' list to be emailed when Zhu Zhu Pets came in stock didn't help worth a hill of beans -- I never got an email, and watched the little "Zoo Zoo Pets" sell out before my very eyes, as soon as any would come in stock online.
Of course the children were delighted with their new Zhu Zhu Pet hamsters -- also formerly known as Go Go Pets by Cepia, LLC -- for a couple of days (my son even brought one to school for show and tell) but now the Zhu Zhus are relegated to various places in the house -- till they become popular playtoys again.
Meanwhile, my own set of a kid's focus group (including my children and their friends) already has given the Zhu Zhu pets toy hamsters the highest form of a thumbs up: Already, two of my kids' classmates have asked me where I found them, with one even offering to buy a Zhu Zhu Pets hamster from me out of his own allowance.
I didn't have any extra Zhu Zhu Pets left to give him, unfortunately.
But if you find some Zhu Zhu Pets in stock now and have kids -- you'd better get on it before Christmas 2009.
I'm warning you...visions of Cabbage Patch mania from the '80s are dancing in my head.

My daughter wants these very bad. BUT I came to find out as well as many others the immorality of people buying these things up and selling them for outrages prices. I WORK VERY HARD FOR MY MONEY AND ONLY WANT TO MAKE MY CHILDREN HAPPY AND WHEN I SEE THE SELFISHNESS THAT IS GOING ON IT IS IMMORAL. Anyone who buys a toy up and than turns around and sells it should be ashamed of themselves the only ones who are paying the price are our children. I will be staring a BOYCOTT to anyone who will listen. The working class should no longer have to pay a greater price than others for trying to buy a toy.
i buy from zhuzhupets.us
The working class is who is buying these things up... for their kids or for a profit. Welcome to Capatalist USA where supply/demand rule. No one is forcing PARENTS to pay 2x, 3x retail.
I got three for my kids. from astore.amazon.com/zhuzhupetshamsters-20
they very happy.
Ok I admit I spoil my kids! When they see these ZHU ZHU PETS on TV, they of course want them and I cave and off we go looking LITERALLY ALL OVER TOWN TRYING TO FIND THEM! We must have went to 8-10 stores and have YET TO FIND AN ACTUAL ZHU ZHU PET HAMSTER! Most stores don't even have an empty rack as they must not be carrying them yet! And three of the stores were Toyrus and each one said they can't keep them on the shelves.
Six Hours Later, We did finally find one lone ADVENTURE BALL for which we now have with no Zhu Zhu pet yet! But we did try it out with the neighbors Zhu Zhu Hamster and it is Hilarious as it acts like a Real Hamster in The Adventure Ball. So as I always do whether it's Bakugan, Littlest Pet Shop, Star Wars, Barbie, and now Zhu Zhu Pets I end up WASTING TONS of TIME and GAS MONEY trying to find them at Multiple Stores when I should have Just Paid A Little Extra and Had them Shipped Right To my Door by Buying them off www.zhuzhupets.us Oh well, Live and Learn
Zhu Zhu Pets is the new name of go go pets ,i buy from gogopets.us

The Toys R List is a good start but it is a little bit skewed to their exclusive toys. Check out this list I found for an even wider range of the hottest toys for the holiday season:
www.HotToys2009.com
Also, inventories at the major retailers seem much lower this year so it seems that they will be selling out of the best toys even quicker than in previous years so get them while you can.
Good luck to all!
zooLert.com is the quickest way I found a zhu zhu pet in stock!
And I didn't even have to do all of the calling of different stores... Matter of fact, I didn't even have to get in my car!
zooLert.com told me when a zhu zhu pet was in stock!
They told me when and where to find it and it was free.
Two zhu zhu pets were in stock already this morning :

I started a website about Zhu Zhu Pets hunting! Come play with me :-) www.zhuzhupetshunters.blogspot.com
Just for the record Toys R Us started out selling these for $7.99 each the first shipment. Come shipment #2 they went up to $9.99 each. Still waiting to see what they do for shipment #3.
My daughter wants one of these pets also but I will not pay those crazy prices! It is true that people are buying them up and selling them on Amazon for 2-3 times the price. Sorry, I refuse to buy them there. It makes me sick!
I went to two different Wal-Mart stores to find this toy. My daughter has it on her Christmas wish list. I always get her to think about it early so I have time to find things that are harder to get. I bought a $20 maze thing at the first store, and a couple of days later I happened to be at a different one and they had a few of the pets. The hamsters were $8.00 each.
went to 7 stores today and yesterday and were all sold out. said they werent sure of their nxt shipment. just checked online and placed an order from getzhuzhu .com, should arrive soon. should have just went there in the first place, would have saved gas. doubt i can find any in stores before xmas, online is the way to go from now on. (thats how i got a wii a couple years ago!)
