President Barack Obama may be working hard over in Tokyo, Japan, on Friday, November 13, 2009 -- but back home, Obama and Psalm 109:8 are making Google's hot trends list for a whole different, unknown and odd reason.
Whilst this reporter is always delighted to see Bible verses making their way into the vitriol that sometimes fills the Google Trends list, upon hitting up Twitter and Biblegateway.com for the Psalm 109:8 translation, I began wondering where the source of this "Pray for Obama" edict originated upon seeing the verse itself:
"Let his days be few; and let another take his office and charge," reads the Amplified Bible's translation of the Psalm 109:8 verse.
Update: What's even scarier is that I opened a Bible extracted from a hotel room and read the next verse, Psalm 109:9 -- which I don't even want to write in relation to the context we're talking here. Perhaps the folks touting this section of David's imprecatory prayers and God-inspired writing wouldn't be so quick to slap it on the back of their vehicles upon reading the next verses.
Anyway, still don't know the reason the Psalm 109:8 began lighting up Twitter.com, too, with various tweets:
It doesn't seem related to firefighter Mike Di'Giacomo's much less biblical and racist Obama bumper sticker that has gotten him in trouble.
So why the recent surge in Psalm 109:8? Ah...anything to drive folks to the Bible. No matter how incendiary.

I wonder if Ms. Mooney was incendiary during or of the Bush administration. This has the potential smell of a bit of reverse racism & hypocrisy. I can't say for sure, but if anyone would investigate her past articles, I wouldn't be surprised at Bush bashing & BHO'zo praising.

It's hardly incendiary. I heard Cafferty call for placing Bush & Cheney and conservatives in sacks and drowning them in a river. That's from a so-called CNN news anchor. Obama's actions and utter failure to fix the economy, end the wars, understand health reform,..., have shown he's an absolute ideological idiot in a position of great responsibility. Hillary Rodham Clinton had the election won, but somehow Obama snuck in and stole the nomination. THAT's incendiary!

Firefighter Mike Di'Giacomo's bumper sticker is the one discussed and linked to at the end of the article because WFSB.com says it read: "Somewhere in Kenya, a village is missing its idiot. I’ll keep my guns, freedom and money. You keep the change. Obama Bin Lyin. Impeach Now."
The Psalm 109:8 bumper sticker is sad for people to put on their cars because it reads "May his days be few; may another take his place of leadership," and is followed by Psalm 109:9 (look it up) something I'm sure Christians do not want in this context.

I too am a Christian & proudly cast my vote for Obama, predominately out of my faith beliefs. Obama stands for diplomacy with other nations before resorting to force, care for all (including healthcare), etc. These are truly Christian values. I am sure that you have an idea of what research entails. Google "psalm 109" bumper sticker and you will find that there are "Christian" businesses peddling bumper stickers and T-Shirts and hats.

I just want to know where to get the bumper sticker. But I have to wonder how someone could call themselves a Christian and support the killing of innocent babies.
If the bumper sticker had the following verse, I could see a possible wish of harm. The bumper sticker does not wish harm, but for a quick return to sanity. And face it, if it had been a bumper sticker for Bush (or Palin or Cheney), would there be such an outcry? Beck, Dodds, Rush, Hannity and O'Reilly all get death threats. Dodds actually had someone fire at him. When you read between the lines, sometimes, there's just nothing there!

While my husband and I both pray for the President's health and safety, we still pray fervently that his destructive, expensive, and anti-American policies will fail, fail, fail!
