Google started lighting up with searches for "Kanye West died, Kanye West death, Is Kanye West dead?, Kanye West car accident, RIP Kanye West" sometime last night -- when an Internet hoax claimed he'd died in some bizarre car accident.
The hoax allegedly read, "...a bizarre car crash in Los Angeles involving two luxury cars early this morning [left] rapper Kanye West dead, a second injured, a third arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter and a fourth person was detained by police. A Los Angeles Police Department officer who witnessed the wreck and saw a red Ferrari and a white Porsche 'spinning out of control' on Jamboree Road between Bison Avenue and East Bluff Drive..." and links to it reportedly lead to malware.
Meanwhile, Kanye West's latest mini-movie with Spike Jonze has folks buzzing.
First it appeared on Kanye's blog -- and reportedly on iTunes -- but was then removed from his blog, yet people are still watching it around the web.
In the mini-movie, a very inebriated West makes a fool of himself in a club, bothering pretty women and picking up one while weeping on another. He accidentally gets intimate with a sofa he imagines is a beautiful, deceptive woman -- and throws up flowers a la American Beauty in the bathroom before slaying his own demon -- or rather, having it kill itself:
