Right before the surprise finale at Ringo Starr's 70th birthday concert celebration at Radio City Music Hall on Wednesday night, Ringo was presented with a birthday cake made in the form of a Ludwig drum set. Ringo's grandchildren came onstage and presented him with the cake after a rousing rendition of "With a Little Help from My Friends" where Ringo was joined by Yoko Ono, Joe Walsh, Zak Starkey, Jeff Lynne, Little Steven and many more. (See VIDEO below)
Right after that, while Ringo walked off stage believing the show had ended, Paul McCartney who had been sitting in the last row of the audience all night walked up to the stage and took his place in front of the microphone to sing "Birthday" to his former bandmate. Ringo, caught off guard, ran back onstage and joined in on the drums, and the audience went crazy watching two ex-Beatles perform together again.
Ringo was performing that night with his 11th All-Starr band featuring Edgar Winter, Gary Wright, Richard Page, Wally Palmar, Rick Derringer and Gregg Bissonette which is currently on tour through August. (See photos of Ringo performing at Radio City on his birthday below)
