I don't want to make too much of this, mainly because it would require creating a rather large amount of straw-men, but in the face of the B.C. business community's ( somewhat well-deserved ) reputation post-HST for hosing the average B.C. resident for the extra costs of the B.C. Liberals' tax, I offer this snippet of an interview with B.C. Chamber of Commerce president John Winter by Sean Holman. Talking about Christy Clark's HST "fix" and the postponement that is now planned for a reduction in the small business tax rate:
Speaking on Public Eye Radio, Mr. Winter said that delay is a "cause for concern." But he stressed the HST does benefit small business. And, moreover, "I'm not so sure getting down to a zero tax rate is really the right place to be for business in British Columbia at any rate. I think that we should all be taxpayers and contributing to the economy."
How downright considerate of him, and by extension the B.C. Chamber of Commerce.
Meanwhile, Winter calls for an Office of the Municipal Auditor General.
