And now, a message from John Horgan

Earleir today, via the John Horgan campaign mailing list:

The mainstream media are recognizing what you and I have known all along: that John Horgan is the BC NDP's best choice to defeat Ms. Clark and her BC Liberals.

Here's what Global News reporter Keith Baldrey had to say on CKNW on Friday morning:

"Horgan is a very credible candidate and I think he would do very well against Christy Clark. He’s a great communicator, very good on his feet and he’s not as doctrinaire as Dix and he’s a little tougher than Farnworth."

And Baldrey isn't alone. Long time Vancouver Sun columnist Vaughn Palmer, CBC TV reporter Stephen Smart, and CKNW morning show host Bill Good have all suggested that John Horgan is doing well and that he could very likely win this race.

As we head into the final weeks, we need to raise $5,000 to hold one final telephone town hall with all of the undecided voters in our New Democratic Party.

The more people know John. The more they like him. Your modest contribution of $25 will enable 50 undecided New Democrat voters to spend time on the phone with John, before they vote.

Yes, I will donate $100 today to help John connect with New Democrats and defeat Christy Clark

Thank you again for your support for John Horgan. Together we will bring real change that puts people first!

Yours gratefully,
Maurine Karagianis, MLA

Not sure why they're initially asking for $25 donations and then soliciting $100 donations. Ah well.

Meanwhile, on the same mailing list, from the 26th:

On Friday, the federal government fell and a national election has been called. That means our BC NDP leadership race is going to receive scant media attention until the very final days. So it’s up to us to get the word out to fellow members one-on-one: “there’s a campaign on! go to a debate! watch one online!”

If you know an NDP member, click on this link to forward this email to them. Below are some useful links to get to know John and the other candidates.

Last week was a full one, with travel, new policy, and new endorsements.

  • John visited 15 towns and cities (and the Brilliant Dam! [short video]) in 6 days while attending the all-candidates debates and other events to meet members in the interior.
  • John released a full education plan on Wednesday, including extended early childhood education programs, a return to free bargaining for teachers, class size limits for primary children and a halt to school closures.
  • Northern MLAs Gary Coons (North Coast) and Robin Austin (Skeena) endorsed John as their choice for leader.

The message is getting out, John is the one with the skills to beat Christy Clark. On Friday, Global TV Legislative Bureau Chief Keith Baldrey said this about John:

"Horgan is a very credible candidate and I think he would do very well against Christy Clark. He’s a great communicator, very good on his feet and he’s not as doctrinaire as Dix and he’s a little tougher than Farnworth."

We couldn't have said it better ourselves.

Yours,

Heather Gropp
