Will Stephanie Rawlings-Blake take a $51k raise?

Below are links to two must read Baltimore City salary articles from the recent past:

Sheila Dixon gets a raise

Baltimore City Council Pay Raise-Time for Electoral Reform?

Here is an article from today's Sun where the future mayor addresses the Dixon pension controversy.

Our future mayor has been in public office (getting paid by the tax payer) for 15 years. She is currently 39 years old and is paid $100,450 a year as council president. Her new job will give her a $51k raise (The mayor makes $151,700 a year).  She is already on the road to receiving at least a $60k a year pension starting at a very young age. Since we are in such hard economic times and people are starting to wake up to the money we are tossing at our leaders, I think it would be a bold statement if our future mayor kept her current city council president six digit salary until the 2011 election and allowed the $100,000 she would give up to pay two or three "essential" government employees' salaries.  If she is elected mayor by the people then she can start to take in $151,700 a year.

"The median income for a household in the city was $30,078, and the median income for a family was $35,438."

We will see what she is made of and whether her allegiance is with herself or with Baltimore. If you cannot make ends meet on $100,000 a year you are not Mayor material.

She already told you when she received the raise as CC president that she deserves it. That sham that Sheila, Stephanie and Joan Pratt put on was all a dog a pony show. Those people are in for the money and running off their parent name. Sarbanes, Rawlings, Cardin, etc all they want to do is pertuate the family destiny. They could get a dam about city. Tell me what city could you get away with using the tax payer money to get married on a sham using teh city police drug and helicopter force. Some things go further than paying back the money, or did he really pay the full cost? We need to stop being stooges and run these dynasties out of government along with some city officials and state officials. Opportunities like this only come around once, time to take advantage, I hope Wayne Curry does run for governor I will vote for him and help him campaign to get rid of O'Malley. Also, Barbara Mc. who is setting her office up for Martin when she retires soon after reelection. Do we want that.

Hell for a part time job I could make ends meet. If the median income was around $35K for a full time working stiff. These people are getting paid big time and we are the cause of it. We need term limitations on how many times they can serve. Contractors pay money to people that they want in office that are sympatheic to their cause. The last list I saw our whole city government has been bought lock stock and barrel. No wonder know one wants to investigate, I scratch your back and you scratch mine is the law in city hall. Politics as usual. They will never change the laws to convict each other or investigate each other. Birds of a feather flock together, and wolves run in packs. The whole darn City council should be investigated as to who donates to their campaign fund and who has been getting bigger pieces of the cake. Inquiring minds want to know!
