Councilman Jim Kraft Demands The Immediate Dismissal Of Margaret Burns

I wonder if other members of city council will join him?

Here are his exact words:

"Good morning,

The comments of the Office of the States Attorney about this issue have been, and continue to be, outrageous.  The failure of the States Attorney to have addressed Ms Burns' irresponsibility here is no less an outrage.

It is without hesitation that I join in this chorus of voices and demand the immediate dismissal of Ms Burns.

In addition, the States Attorney must speak on this issue herself and not through a spokesperson.  This situation cries out for the leader of this office to take control, apologize not just to the Sowers family but to all of the citizens of Baltimore and pledge that such irresponsible behavior will not be tolerated by her office.

The States Attorney has consistently pointed out failures and improper behavior in the performance of other agencies and individuals and the resultant effect that such failures have had on her office and the credibility of her prosecutors.  Her standards for performance for those who work for her should be no less so.

Ms Burns must go now.

Sincerely,

Jim Kraft"

 Wow.

Will Pat Jessamy respond by calling Kraft a "petulant do-nothing politician" like she did last year?

So,we have one council member on board. What are we going to do? Threaten to hold up their budget? Will he join us as we bring down the States Attorney? Will he run against Jessamy?

    Hey--

Did it take a letter from a Doctor to get Kraft on the bandwagon? Why? Anna's been fending for herself on the radio and on the internet without any help from Kraft up until now. I guess now that the media machine is about to crank up, he doesn't want to be left behind. Good call to back Ms. Cheng, but strange and self-serving timing.

I commend Mr. Kraft for saying something. Lately I feel that he is coming around. He even made a stand regarding the tax issue this year. He has called his district a "cash machine." If it is going to stay that way, residents need to see action.

of course fat and overpaid pat jessamy should be shown the door by the voters. she constantly attempts to blame everyone else for her ofice's failure to effectivey prosecute the vermin that have ruined the city.

Kraft is a tool. He's not interested in Anna, just getting his name in the newspapers. If he had stuck with this case, he probably could have had Burns fired right after this story broke. I'm afraid it's lip service and it's too late. Bet he only responded because Anna bugged him about it and he finally had to say yes. That's not leadership. That's being dragged into something in which he could have provided leadership.

Jim Kraft is a white guy in a city run by black women. His words mean bupkis to them and I doubt he'll be taken seriously by anyone with real power in the city. Hate to say it, but it's true. And as long as people vote the way they do regardless how the people they vote for perform that's how it's going to stay.

Nice of him to jump on the bandwagon though.

Who doesn't say a few stupid things from time to time? She does a good job. Leave her alone. As for Kraft, he should be fired by the voters for pushing that smoking ban. Fascist.

Jesus! There was a piece about Anna's Cause on Channel 2 just now. You should really charge the mainstream media for your leads!

Ms Burns certainly did say something awful. But sadly, canning her WON'T solve the problem. The real problem is Jessamy.

I hate to say it but I think that strategically it would be better for Burns to stay. We need all the ammo we can muster to un-seat Jessamy in the next election.

Save your energy for election time. Firing a spokesperson isn't going to do a damn thing, and it will allow Jessamy to claim that she has "done something".

The Undertaker: Yes, we all say stupid things from time to time. Difference being that those of us with decent judgment and sensitivity to the effects of our words apologize and try to make things right. Furthermore, she is the spokesperson. Her job is to speak to the public and keep us informed as to what the state's attorney's office is doing to make Baltimore a safer place. She should be explaining the decisions of the office so that we, the people of Baltimore, understand what is going on. Not putting her foot in her mouth is her job. If you were a mechanic, and you couldn't fix cars, you would seek alternative employment. After this broke, she should have come forward and explained her statements.

To Dunn Waiting: I am not a big fan of Jim Kraft trust me. He can attest to that. I've have called him several times and have e-mailed him plenty of nasty messages. I'm just trying to encourage him here. He seems to finally coming around to the fact that he represents a district that is wealthy and positive for the city and more. His idea of his district of being a "Cash Machine," offends me highly. But I have seen a few moves lately that are an improvement. This one now that is getting press is good. Jim Kraft is an intelligent nice guy. He is up against some major friction to say the least. Unfortunatly, he has accepted that his area contributes a lot of taxes for minimal services. There has been some indication that he realizes the importance of his district for the future of Baltimore. It is slight, but I recognize it. I just hope he emboldens himself even more. His job is tough, I've thought about running for it myself, but think I might be horrified by the dysfunction if I got the position.
