311 online now has a bed bug complaint option. These nasty little critters are invading Southeast Baltimore according to this City Paper article. If you see a discarded mattress in an alley do not get near it and never step or sit on it. It is nice to see that the city is keeping track of this potential massive infestation. I hope they are able to use this valuable information to help contain and attack the problem.
In somewhat related news: It appears that about 80% of my neighbors have no idea that Baltimore has a new trash schedule starting today. There are many overflowing trash cans sitting out in the alley as I type this entry. The alley will be a horrible mess by the time trash pickup begins on Friday morning. I also received word that some multi-unit row-houses only received one small postcard informing residents of the new trash and recycling days.

Rats, bedbugs and politicians, which is worse?
Politicians by far Happy Indep.
I live outside Baltimore but would like to report that while there, in the best western conference center last month I found bedbugs.
