Oil industry expert Bob Cavnar believes that when BP gave up on the top kill procedure last week, it was because “they likely had a casing failure.”
The casing is the steel pipe that was placed in the Deepwater Horizon well hole during the drilling process to prevent the wall of the hole from caving in.
Florida Senator bill Nelson said, “there were reports of oil seeping up from the sea bed, which would indicate that the well casing itself is actually pierced.”
Reports claim that BP discovered the casing failure during the first top kill, and an anonymous BP employee said “we discovered things that were broken in the sub-surface.”
It is the explanation as to why video images showed ‘mud’ coming out of the side of the well before the top kill procedure was called off.
Cavnar said, “The real doomsday scenario here is if that casing gives up, and it (the oil) comes up through the other strings of pipe that hold this well together.. basically you’ve got uncontrolled flow to the sea floor - and that is the doomsday scenario. There is nothing they can do except the relief wells.”
The 2 relief wells currently under construction are not expected to be completed until August at the earliest.

Shame on you Rachael Maddow the oil industry is not to blame just the bad apple BP. When BP is ended as a company then we will be safe again. The Russians have capped similar blowouts with nuclear charges and Nick Pozzi and USA have cleaned up similar spills with a fleet of super tankers. Those spills included skimming surface oil and undersea oil plumes and bottom lakes of oil. BP and Obama rejected the proven technology of using a fleet of super tankers for cleanup because they had a deal to use toxic chemical dispersants to hide the enemy oil. This is part of their new tech clean technology they are promoting. Why aren't the cleanup workers wearing hazmat suits to protect them from toxic chemicals? Why haven't you talked with Matt Simmons and Nick Pozzi founder of Wow Energy Solutions that have worked successfully for the oil industry? Why do you keep blaming the oil industry for BP's criminal activities? Why has Obama left the criminal BP in charge of the cleanup?

I realized from seeing the spread rate that the oil is going to kill the entire planet. See the attached picture collage and the video links I found.
I also came across the ‘Rice Experiments’ so many people were doing and putting on YouTube showing that positive mind power can alter matter and the decay rate of cooked rice. There are reports of Monks Meditating by a polluted lake and having it become clear!
It is hard to believe the Earth could be killed by an endless oil gushing; but it is happening day by day with no usual way to reverse or stop.
It is also hard to believe that writing ‘Thank You’ on a jar of rice and saying ‘Thank You’ to it several times a day could keep it looking fresh for 147 days and for one person 1.5 years!
Watch some videos about ‘Rice Experiments’ and try it in combination with an image (map or picture or just the words ‘gulf of Mexico’). Make an image, put some rice on or next to, write 'Thank You' and say it often daily... Please!
In view of the huge problem and billion of costs incurs in cleaning up oil spill, I believe BP management should be preparing to implement all possible solutions in capping the oil simultaneouly, rather than waiting for the selected solution failure then starting to consider to implement alternative solution. The time wasted in fabricating the possible equipment will cause the oil spill to involve very much more cost for cleaning-up.
@Arthur Auerbach; You have a great mind. But I'm still a bit confused about what is the solution you suggest. To plug the oil blowout with rice or with monks or both?

Who can tell us about the methane gas complications? Having altered the pressure/containment of the oil and thereby altering the areas around the gas fields, is it possible that sealing the well could create a danger of exploding the methane? Has the methane volume been calculated? if it exploded what level of tsunami might follow?
