Recently a commentary here pointed out the hypocrisy of many of the opponents of health care reform and particularly named Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck and Tea Party Patriots as those who call themselves Christians while denying one of Christ’s two main commandments. That commentary only pointed out the hypocrisy of those people and nothing else, except their supporters bought into their vitriol concerning health care reform, and any Bible citations proved the assertions and hypocrisy.
The Constitution demands separation of church and state as it should, but Christians claim this is a Christian nation and believe their air-fairy blesses America, so instead of following their religion’s dictates, they pick and choose little verses to support their greed and selfishness.
One commenter offered Bible verses about how Christians were to treat the government although the article never mentioned that. Another brilliant mind cited a verse about snakes and God protecting his followers from harm. If that is the case, the next time you fall ill, break a bone, or have a heart attack, you cannot get medical attention. At no time did that article talk about anything other than the hypocrisy of so-called Christians who demand their guns, God, and gold.
This is not a debate about the merits of Christianity, but about hypocrites. There is more compassion from atheist and Pagan communities than the religious right. It is obvious that when anyone points out their hypocrisy, they take offense and instead of defending why they ignore their avatar of light’s one commandment when he gave only two, they say ‘move to Cuba or Iran’ and go on rants about Socialism, Marxism and Communism.
They do not realize that Jesus Christ is the ultimate Socialist because he plainly told his followers to ‘render unto Caesar his due’ (Mark 12:17), as well as loving your neighbor (Luke 10:27), but they ignore that ideology all together. Just as they ignore that Christ said his kingdom was no part of the world (John 18:36) and yet Christians use their religion as a promotional tool while they deny aid to their fellow humans. Hypocrites.
The Bible, Ten Commandments, and Christianity are not everyone’s guiding force, and none of it belongs in government or in this author’s life. But to use that ‘label’ and take every measure to belie that faith makes those people rank hypocrites and those who did not understand that are no better and defending them makes it worse. However, intelligent folks realize that increasingly, Christians feel they have power to judge and they judge based on their nit picking selected verses to reinforce their hypocrisy.
Let’s face it, if Christians are correct about Jesus Christ making a grand return to save them, they are in trouble because he states in the fairy tale “get away from me you workers of lawlessness”(Matt. 7:23), because he certainly will not know you because you just cannot get that one easy commandment to love your neighbor and you should feel ashamed, but you won’t because you follow the lead of Palin, Beck and Tea Party hypocrites.

The issue is not healthcare reform.
The issue is what kind of healthcare reform.
Healthcare reform borne out of corruption, greed and crass political manuevering (as crafted by Obama's Democrats) is immoral and deceitful.
Christianity is far deeper and more complex than you can understand, Mr. Bynum...if you truly want to partake in matters of Christianity you will have to do more than a fifteen minute google search on scripture.
You are way out of your depth.
He was a minister before becoming what he is now. So sad, such a loss.
Seriously a holy man and a scholar.
Atheist traitor is what he is. Christ will crush his rebellion.
Used to be Holy, but forsaks God? Sinner repent.
christainatiy ain't deep Leigh. It's a lie. A trick the clergy plays to control the weak-minded. Seriously? A thing made the universe just six thousand yeare ago and science is wrong? I don't know haow ignorant a person can be. How do you know this idiot isn;t a preascher? He says atheist but sounds like an old preacher and his picture proves it. Junny Leigh, I looked up the issues and they are very simple. your preacher men/women make them complex to control you weak mind. I'm sorry
Christianity is another myth like Hercules and Yoda. People just grow up being programmed and slowly it becomes real and true.
No hope at that point.
