Surpising lack of outrage over African American who was assualted at town hall meeting

On the evening of August 6, 2009, Kenneth Gladney was attacked outside a town hall meeting hosted by Democratic Congressmen Russ Carnahan.  Kenneth Gladney was handing out flags emblazoned with the traditional phrase “Don’t Tread on Me” when he was attacked by members of the Service Employees International Union.  In an official statement, Gladney’s attorney David Brown stated:

Kenneth was attacked on the evening of August 6, 2009 at Rep. Russ Carnahan’s town hall meeting in SouthSt. LouisCounty. I was at the town hall meeting as well and witnessed the events leading up to the attack of Kenneth. Kenneth was approached by an SEIU representative as Kenneth was handing out “Don’t Tread on Me” flags to other conservatives. The SEIU representative demanded to know why a black man was handing out these flags. The SEIU member used a racial slur against Kenneth, then punched him in the face. Kenneth fell to the ground. Another SEIU member yelled racial epithets at Kenneth as he kicked him in the head and back. Kenneth was also brutally attacked by one other male SEIU member and an unidentified woman. The three men were clearly SEIU members, as they were wearing T-shirts with the SEIU logo.

Kenneth was beaten badly. One assailant fled on foot; three others were arrested. Kenneth was admitted to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center emergency room, where he was treated for his numerous injuries. Kenneth was merely expressing his freedom of speech by handing out the flags. In fact, he merely asked people as they exited the town hall meeting whether they would like a flag. He in no way provoked any argument or altercation, as evidenced by the fact that three assailants were arrested.

The interesting part of this story is the fact that Gladney is an African American and a conservative.  Where is the outrage in the black community over a black man being attacked by union members?  Is the incident somehow acceptable since one of the assailants was also an African American? Where is the President stating that members of SEIU acted “stupidly?” Most recently, America followed the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates by Cambridge police Sgt. James Crowly.  Many thought the arrest was racially motivated, including President Obama.  When the facts set the record straight, both parties were invited to the White House for a beer.  In the St. Louis incident, Kenneth Gladney didn’t do anything to provoke his attackers besides handing out small flags.  One of the attackers allegedly wanted to know why a black man was handing out these flags. Is there some unwritten rule that African Americans can’t speak out against the President, or stand up for the principles they believe in without being assaulted?  The problem with racism in America today is that there are so many nuances that leave one analyzing each incident to determine whether or not a racist act took place. It is hard to imagine anything more racist than a black man being beat down by multiple men using racial epithets without any sort of provocation.   Racism is an evil that should be confronted on an equal playing field without discrimination.

One it wasn't a racial incident. This is the first anyone said anything about racial slurs. Secondly you stated that the perpetrators were arrested, which normally doesn't happen. Not to mention this idiot was protesting health insurance and is now begging for " handouts" to pay for injuries, because he has no health insurance.

Since when did conservatives start caring about what happens to black people? Actually correction , since when did conservatives even start caring about PEOPLE.....

George, actually it has been well publicized that the thugs who attacked Mr. Gladney were using the n-word and other racial slurs as they were kicking and punching him around.
I would turn the question to you: Why can't unions debate an issue without using violence?!

Does Gladney have a mirror image "B" scratched on his cheek?

"Not to mention this idiot was protesting health insurance and is now begging for 'handouts' to pay for injuries, because he has no health insurance."

Specifically, he was protesting government-mandated health insurance. See, this way you're free not to give him any of your money if you don't think he deserves it. You wouldn't have that option under ObamaCare.

"Since when did conservatives start caring about what happens to black people?"

Because, unlike liberals, we treat people as individuals and not part of a voting bloc.

No, nor did he make up a bunch of crap about Tawana Brawley.

By the way, this isn't true:

"One it wasn't a racial incident. This is the first anyone said anything about racial slurs."

Just because you're ignorant doesn't mean it hasn't been mentioned.

The outrage is lacking because it would undermine the main strategy of the Democrats to marginalize town hall protesters as racists. Can't do that if Obama's SEIU army is out calling people N****rs and giving them the Rodney King treatment can you.

Now they are planting nazi-oriented signs in the crowds to support Mother Nancy's assertion that they are running around with swastikas.

According to the illustrious Carlos Watson of MSNBC, anyone who says "socialism" these days is using it as code word for "n****r." One republican characterized the town hall protestors as "lynch mobs"--seemingly agreeing with the leftist characterization of them. But Carlos latched on to a Republican saying "lynch" as a racial attack on Obama. Leftist dem.s are the best at leveraging race to their advantage, making up racial issues where there are none and ignoring inconvenient facts like the SEIU stomping a conservative black man.

Their inconsistency is killing their credibility with centrists.

Let me get this straight, Michael Moore.

Since Kenneth Gladney's friend and attorney David made an "Official" statement, we're supposed to accept this as factual?

Even in the face of a widely available youtube video of the event that contradicts this account?

At the start of this video, SEIU member Reverend Elston McCowan is on the ground. According to the SEIU, his shoulder was dislocated in the incident. At 5 or 6 seconds, K. Gladney is pulled to the ground when friends of E. McCowan are trying to clear space around him. By 8 seconds in, K Gladney is up again, and appears through the rest of the video. Unmarked and apparently uninjured. Meanwhile, attorney Dave Brown is loudly working the crowd, and later the cops. "YOU assaulted HIM!" Apparently E. McCowan should have brought a lawyer, too.

It's nice to see dumbf____s like Jimmy Treacher who will swallow anything that fits their worldview. The St. Louis P.D. have asked for Gladney's medical records, which will put the lie to the claim that Gladney was "brutally beaten" and kicked and punched in the head. Of course, Jimmy will then go on to the next victim, like the delusional Sola, who lied that Harry Reid's thugs paid him a house call.

Your right they do treat people like individuals. They individually drop bombs on Arabs, individually refer to black people as n$$$$$, and like a few token individuals that toe the line, suck up , step and fetch it to the RNC. But if you really just love Gladney's fake A** give him your money

I just LOVE seeing liberals squirming and writhing. "That didn't happen, and besides, it wasn't a "Racial Incident, and anyway YOU'RE AN EVIL CONSERVATIVE!!"

Keep wailing, babies. Your whole edifice is coming apart at the seams - and I can't *buy* entertainment this good.
