Let the voting begin

Early voting officially began today in Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District special election, and in a race that one recent poll says is a virtual dead heat, candidates will surely begin pulling out all the stops to get ahead.

Republican Governor Brian Sandoval has dutifully endorsed Mark Amodei, along with GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney and Speaker John Boehner.

Kate Marshall has garnered the endorsement of the Sierra Club, veterans and seniors groups.

In the world of social networking, Amodei has more than twice the number of fans on Facebook than Marshall, with 2,796. But on Twitter, Marshall is slamming Amodei with nearly 2,000 followers compared to his 464.

It’s unclear how much of a factor early voting will be in the race. The district is large and rural and that demographic may not favor early voting at all. One thing is for sure – by the evening of Sept.13, one clear winner will surely emerge.

In the next few articles, we’ll look at the campaign ads that have begun flooding the airwaves from both camps, though with neither candidate straying from party lines, don’t expect to be too surprised!
