Fort Hood massacre: On an eight-day Asia trip, Obama turned his attention home and pleaded for lawmakers to "resist the temptation to turn this tragic event into the political theater." (AP) [The moment an opportunity arises for Leftists to call for an investigation of Conservatives, they can't organize a congressional hearing fast enough. Let politicians of all stripes call for an investigation into a horrendous Muslim attack on American soldiers on our soil, and well, let's not get hasty. What is that all about Mr. President?]

It is heartening to learn the Chinese like the way Obama rolls up his sleeves. Many in America wish he would stop bowing to foreign kings and emperors and roll up his sleeves and get to work addressing our most pressing problems. Instead we see $100 per pound steak dinners at the White House, a $25,000 date night, and a First Lady with an enormous staff spending more than $1.43 Million per year.
If the President returns from Japan with a trade deal that helps American businesses employ more people we would have cause to congratulate him.
If he comes back from China with substantive agreements to rein in North Korea, people would cheer.
Meanwhile, this Asian tour is little more than window dressing, ego strutting, a road show, an extension of the campaign.
For all his expressed concern for middle class and lower income Americans, the President appears to be doing nothing about our worsening economic situation, unless you credit him with policies that aggravate the decline, or otherwise believe he is serious when he talks tough about cutting government spending.
Furthermore, it appears this President simply wants a starring role in his own ongoing improvisational political theater, giving Islamic terrorists ample breathing room. Central casting, the U.S. mean-streak media, praises his role as the capitulator in chief.
The Chinese have better eyesight than many Americans. They recognize Mao when they see him.
