The Obama "long form" birth certificate has been in question for a long time. A large movement is asking for his official birth record (see reasons below). Likewise, another movement is growing -- saying that the first group is nuts and is wasting everyone's time.
Lawsuits are continually being filed for proof of President Obama's eligibility. The latest from someone in the military.
The "Vault or Long Form" certificate has been wrongly interchanged with the "Certificate of Live Birth" as proof of birth although they are two different documents.
Although I do not subscribe to either side of the debate, here are some of the alleged reasons floating around on the internet fueling the movement for the President to prove his eligibility to lead our country. (i.e. do not shoot this messenger)

Hawaiian law: [§338-17.8] Certificates for children born out of State. (a) Upon application of an adult or the legal parents of a minor child, the director of health shall issue a birth certificate for such adult or minor, provided that proof has been submitted to the director of health that the legal parents of such individual while living without the Territory or State of Hawaii had declared the Territory or State of Hawaii as their legal residence for at least one year immediately preceding the birth or adoption of such child.
(b) Proof of legal residency shall be submitted to the director of health in any manner that the director shall deem appropriate. The director of health may also adopt any rules pursuant to chapter 91 that he or she may deem necessary or proper to prevent fraudulent applications for birth certificates and to require any further information or proof of events necessary for completion of a birth certificate.

The 1982 is the year this became law. Therefore, the option did not exist when Obama was born.

Birth Certificate aside, how about his school records? I can't find anything about this individual other than he went to Occidental, Columbia and Harvard. There's no transcripts, no associations, no grades. I poked fun at Bush(43) for being a C student. I would like to praise Obama for his achievements but I simply can't find ANY information. This is disturbing.
What would satisfy me is if the Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed, under oath, that he had personally examined the long form birth certificate of the current president and that 1) it was genuine, and 2) it proves that Mr. Obama was born on U.S. soil and therefor is a natual born U.S. citizen. What could be so hard about that? It would put to rest the whole issue, that is, if such a birth certificate does really exist. If not, well.........

Yes. It's said that President Obama's records have been sealed. School records, state senate records, medical records, etc.
Some folks believe that his school records would reveal that he applied in a fashion that reflected something other than American citizenship.
The original "birthers" were Democrats who were questioning McCain's eligibility. Obama is getting the same treatment and was asked way before the election to produce documentation. McCain gave all information. There is zilch from Obama. One photoshopped short form certificate shows no information, and is a forgery according to many. This is all about ELIGIBILITY according to the constitution. He has not shown himself to be a Natural Born Citizen, and can't be as his own website showed his father to be from Kenya, a British subject. So Everyone get it right...it is about ELIGIBILITY. If his birth certificate shows he has two American citizen parents, and he was born in Hawaii..that is proof. His own website and book say quite the opposite. Ah yes the eligibility question, indeed what is a Natural Born Citizen according to the US Constitution? Why did Chester A. Arthur hide his records and lie about his life? IF what Obama says is true that he was born in Hawaii and his father was not a US citizen how could he be a natural born citizen? In addition he is also known as Barry Soetoro, the name he began to use after his mother married Lolo Soetoro and they moved to Indonesia. A school registration from one school attended in Indonesia said he was a Muslim citizen of Indonesia and that Lolo was his father.
It has also been requested that he provide adoption papers and any other information concerning Indonesia. You could (and likely still can't) attend school there if you are not a citizen, sweeps within the schools are routine. His step father had to adopt him to make him a citizen.

Since no information has ever surfaced, I'm inclined to believe that there is no information in most locations where records have been sealed.
At the time of his birth Hawaii allowed the births of children born in foreign countries to be registered in Hawaii if parents meet residency requirements.
But, there is no denying that his father was a foreigner attending school on a student visa, who returned to his country when his studies were finished.
You can't be natural born if you are born a dual citizen. There was a British rule (act, law?) dated 1948 that governed his birth through his father and also had a portion relating to children not born in Kenya to the effect that they would remain a British Subject, if born in Kenya you would remain a citizen of Kenya after the Brits no longer controlled Kenya.
No matter how you look at it, he is not natural born whether he was born in the USA or not.

A real birth certificate would show things like the doctors name or midwife,hospital, possible multibirth, addresses of parents, signatures, doctors signature and such. All that has been shown is a document that says a birth certificate exists buts does not include it nor the verifiable information. It's not about the Birth Certificate, or whether Obama is a citizen. It is whether Senator Obama is a Natural Born American Citizen as is required by Article 2. Section 1. paragraph 5. of our Great Constitution. Natural Born, meaning, Born of Blood and Soil. The Blood of two (2) parents both American Citizens at the time of his birth and that birth taking place on American Soil. By now everyone knows that his father was never an American Citizen. His father was a British Citizen as Kenya was a British Colony in 1961, and the British Nationality Act of 1948 caused the one day Senator Obama to be born a British Citizen. No one can be born a British Citizen at birth, and have a parent that was not an American Citizen at their birth, ever be considered a Natural Born American Citizen. Answer, because there were many framers and signers of the constitution that were not born here and as such were governed by other nations. It would explain why all the focus is "over here" when the real focus should be looking over "there."

I have to say.....as a person of mixed race, it is difficult for me to decide if the 'birthers' are racist, or just plain ignorant. You have documented proof of a birth certificate form the state of Hawai'i.

Oddly, the same people who are so skeptical of Obama's Hawaii birth certificate are willing to accept this new document despite many flaws, documented by the Washington Independent's Dave Weigel and Markos Moulitas.
Here are just some of the flaws:
Kenya was a Dominion the date this certificate was allegedly issued and would not become a republic for 8 months.
Mombasa belonged to Zanzibar when Obama was born, not Kenya.
Obama's father's village would be nearer to Nairobi, not Mombasa.
The number 47O44-- 47 is Obama's age when he became president, followed by the letter O (not a zero) followed by 44--he is the 44th president.
