Representative Larsen seems unafraid of taking on Glenn Beck.
I have a feeling Representative Rick Larsen (D-WA) said something that a lot of other Representatives only wish they could say. In this video clip Rep. Larsen takes on a question from reform opponent and at one point responds to skepticism by saying "I've got the facts on my side and you've got Glenn Beck on your side." Rep. Larsen clearly comes from a Democratic district as his comment drew wild applause instead of the boos he would undoubtedly hear in a conservative district.
I know that Rep. Larsen's remark is not exactly the most substantive argument in the health care debate but it is still worth noting. If we are going to continually watch clip of reform opponents cheering on their respective speakers then we should give ample time to reform supporters as well.
The reaction of the crowd also demonstrates the informational divide in America. Clearly there is a large population who believes Beck to be entirely lacking in credibility. On the other hand, had Rep. Larsen made the same remark in Georgia he may have gotten himself stoned from the Beck loyalists. In the end the health care debate is becoming more and more about who people listen to for trustworthy information.
Watch the clip yourself and provide your support or criticism of Rep. Larsen's remark.
