Video: Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh call Senator Mary Landrieu a prostitute for her health care vote

Health care reform opponents were quick to criticize Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) yesterday for her vote to allow the Senate health care reform bill to be brought to the floor for debate.  Landrieu's vote (along with 59 other Senators) simply allowed for debate begin and the bill still has two more votes to go before it will actually pass through the Senate.  Sen. Landrieu was also quick to point out that her vote may change on the next (more important) vote to end debate and actually allow for passage fo the bill.

Even with those reservations by Landrieu she became the number one target of conservatives today who viewed her vote as a sellout.  Included in the Senate bill is approximately $100 million in additional Medicaid funds for her home state of Louisiana.  The funds have been lobbied for by Landrieu and even Republican Governor Bobby Jindal.  Both have said that the aid is needed to help the health care system in Louisiana in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina and many view such request as reasonable based on the current situation in that state.  Still the accusation against Landrieu is that she essentially sold her vote in exchange for the funds.

The harshest criticism for Landrieu came (not surprisingly) from Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.  Both explicitly referred to Landrieu as a high paid prostitute when slamming her for recent vote. (clips below)

Liberals immediately accused Limbaugh and Beck of using sexist language in their attack saying that both would not make the same kind of attack on a male Senator.  In addition many may say the reference to Landrieu as a prostitute is over-the-top.  Nearly every Senator secures special favors for their home state at some point in their tenure.  Indeed in representing the interests of their state each Senator can almost be expected to pursue what is best for their state.  If anyone deserves condemnation for the aid given to Louisiana it would be the Democratic leadership who provided for the aid in the bill.

The prostitute analogy also seems to not match up on a number of accounts.  A prostitute sells her body for money whereas Landrieu allegedly sold her vote for aid to her state.  Landrieu's move can certainly be questioned on ethical grounds but to compare her to a prostitute seems ingenious to liberals.

What about Hannity, Politico, and Morris...?

Why wouldn't you call Reid a pimp? He paid off Landrieu for her services.

It is disgusting that our tax money has gone to pay for a bribe to vote against the will of the people!

Liberals are the last ones who should complain about sexism or over-the-top treatment of women!

Oh, well there you go... How can we single out poor Mary when "nearly every Senator" does it. Come on, give her a break already... a $300 million dollar break.

It's refreshing to read the laments of the right. It matters not, what that obese gas bag, or the strange one have to say about anyone. These two carry more baggage than American Tourister has in it's whole inventory.

Wake up America, your corrupt version of Democracy is on display. Throw in some racist hate monger's and you have the perfect storm. Never again will this Republic be the same. It all started with your annointed Ronald Reagan. You might as well elect Sarah Palin into office, as she is the epitome of the Conservative movemement, all talk and no substance.

Louisiana better make good use of that 300 million they got at our expense. If they ever have another Katrina don't expect much sympathy from the rest of the country. In fact, wasn't there about 60 billion unaccounted for and several indictments on missing, mismanaged FEMA funds? Sanctioned bribes shouldn't be legal and she is a whore.

Limbaugh and Beck do not speak for all Americans. They speak to the far right redneck racist conservatives. They know who butters their bread. So yes...they will spew ignorant, offensive, and racist views as long as the checks come rolling in. There is a word they need to learn. The word is "RESPONSIBILITY." They need to be more responsible about the ignorant and the dangerous language they are spewing and learn more about who they are talking too. They feed these less informed people that are TOTALLY detached from what's going on in Washington with dangerous under imformed information. These racist will chew it up because they need a legit platform to stand on to hid their true "hidden views and agenda" against the President. They know these people only rely on them as far as their "news source." Beck/Limbaugh should face some form of review board for their dangerous word through fear mongering.

It's a total malfeasance. but that's how the dems and reps do it. They are all just corrupt. When they need more cash they just go back to the taxpayer and take it. Why not. Nothing easier in the world than separating taxpayers from their brass.

This article is just another liberal PC agenda, because many liberals vilified Palin on their blogs and called her every name in the book including "whore". So what is the difference with Beck and Limbaugh? You complain about Landrieu, but if is okay to attack Palin and call her horrid names.

    BigsmooovinDC:

    Typical lib.

At the same time you're lecturing others about ignorant language and RESPONSIBILITY, you call others uninformed rednecked racists with hidden views and agendas.

I'm one of those people you're slamming and I can assure you that I am very well informed and I am quite open about my views and agendas.

I always wonder; if our views and agendas are hidden, how you are so all knowing that you see what's in our hearts and minds!!!

If you are allowed to spew your ignorant, hateful, uninformed, intolerant, bigoted b.s. anybody should be allowed to.
