Video: Glenn Beck and Fox News using false information to link ACORN to the Obama White House

President Obama being attacked by Fox News. AP Photo Ron Edmonds

Ever since the ACORN videos were released many at Fox News and in conservative media have tried desperately to link the Obama administration to ACORN.  So far they have been unable to find the "missing link" between ACORN and the White House.

That all seemed to change when Fox News and others starting running with a story from the American SpectatorIn the story it was alleged that the White House political affairs director, Patrick Gaspard, once worked for ACORN.  The Obama administration denied the story.  More significantly the original source for the story has since retracted his statement saying he was wrong and that Gaspard in fact never worked for ACORN.  Despite these facts Fox News and Glenn Beck continues to run with the story that ACORN and the Obama administration are closely linked.

Glenn Beck has said repeatedly on his show that he would lead with a correction if he was ever wrong.  It will be interesting to see what Glenn Beck and the rest at Fox News do in the coming days.  Will they continue to run with the story despite these new facts revealed?  Will they simply stop referring to the story hoping it goes away?  Or will Beck and others lead with a retraction of the story?

There is no 'missing link' between ACORN and the White House because, as is well known, the Missing-Link-in-Chief himself once worked with ACORN and even mentioned it on the campaign trail. Good investigative reporting there, Witty.

Hi Rob, My name is jaime. If you use "Witticims" on these blogs you may be banned for childish word usage. Even worse do NOT mention the Constitution or any Supreme Court judgements prior to the 1960's. Those who forge a path must warn others who may follow.

Jaime, if you have a problem with Ryan's blog why don't you go elsewhere? Do you not know that the Constitution is the Constitution and can't be changed at will? We are “stuck” with judgments made prior to the 1960's, unless laws are changed. Like it or leave it.

Thanks for commenting LU. I already addressed why I come to Ryan's stories to Ryan. In short the view portrayed here is so BIASED that a Balance needs to be presented.

I'm sorry you feel you should come here and comment but not me. This seems symptomatic of our time though.Since you asked me a "question" I will answer.
Yes I do know that the Constitution is the Constitution...and should protect us from abuses of an out of control Government. Are you aware that Obama has commented that he has problems with and would like to change the Constitution? Do you see vilifying angry constituents as nazis while they are engaged in the process of confronting their representatives as perhaps a bit UNconstitutional? These articles here are a constant attack on true political dialogue.

Many, but not all of the Court decisions prior to the 1960s highlighted our Constitutional freedoms. I don't want to see those unraveled, but rather enforced.

jaime, we can only assume you were this vigorous in your defense of what's right, our constitution, fiscal responsibilities, etc., when George Bush was turning a surplus into a huge deficit, growing government, trampling on our rights, starting a war we didn’t need (Iraq, not Afghanistan) etc. etc. etc.

Because of your post I am now a (jaime-fan)Fan.

In all seriousness I'm glad you listed the things you did. With one exception they are all true. And...I...can't...stand...Gee Dubya. For the very reasons you highlight. He was a phoney conservative, a neo-con socialist who I fear started this last slope of decline for our rights. Obama is just Bush one-up.

They both seem to favor a creeping Totalitarianism, and both seem to be following an agenda or script that is other than what they project publically.( I hope Jack doesn't read this.)

The one exception: Bush did not inherit a surplus...this was bogus accounting played up by Clinton and his Admin.
