Video: Bill Maher and Bill Frist debate the H1N1 vaccine

Former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is a fan of H1N1 vaccine.

It turns out that Rush Limbaugh and Bill Maher have something in common even though they come from completely opposite ends of the political spectrum.  Both men are huge skeptics of the H1N1 vaccine expressing concern about the governments ability to safely produce a vaccine that works.

Rush Limbaugh has expressed his intent not to take the H1N1 vaccine primarily because Kathleen Sebelius, the Health and Human Services Secretary, "told him" to take it.  Limbaugh has also said he does not view the H1N1 virus as a real threat.

Bill Maher expresses some of the same concerns as Limbaugh In the interview with former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist.  Maher states that the H1N1 virus is a really a mild flu that is not a real threat and that the vaccine will do nothing to protect people.  Bill Frist, who is also a doctor, takes on Maher's assumptions with what he calls the "science" behind the virus and vaccine.

In addressing Maher's arguments Frist continually cites personal examples and scientific evidence to back up his points.  In rebuttal to Maher's claim that the virus is not a real threat Frist brings up a story of one person in the 30's who came into his hospital and died from the H1N1 virus.  Maher attempts to claim there must have been something else wrong with the person but Frist denies Maher's claim.  In addition Frist points to a study from the New England Journal of Medicine which has show the vaccine to be effective in preventing the spread of H1N1.  Despite this evidence Maher continues to stand by his skepticism regarding the virus and the vaccine.

And thank god he does stand his ground. Canadian scientists are now reporting that the H1N1 vaccine actually makes you more likely to get the virus. In addition, many reports this year (in peer-reviewed journals) corroborating the evidence that the thimerosal(mostly mercury) prevalent in doses intended for repeat injections is a deadly neurotoxin, in addition to the extremely strong evidence linking autism to multiple forms of vaccination.

    What was your point again?

Dear Dr didn't give any practical evidence neither the theory to support his opinion. The psychological scare to and the severity of disease are totally different issue with the effect of the treatment. In fact, everyone should produce certain level anti-body after injected with vaccine. If no anti-body in your body after vaccine, you may believe you were injected with salt water only. For most people, the only different between taking vaccine or not is the place where money go. If you refuse the vaccine, the money is kept in your pocket and you may get flu. If you accept the vaccine, money is out of your pocket and you also may get flu. If the people who can get free vaccine, the difference may be your time and little hole. If you didn't suffered severe side effect of injection, like the young girl died of vaccine, you should celebrate.

DW - Where are your sources on anything you say? The internet is not your best source for information.

Your post wreaks of anecdotal evidence that you read in passing and accept without question. There is no link between autism and vaccines. Again...where is your proof. Studies of 12 autistic kids is not a study group.

There is more mercury in a tuna sandwich than a vaccine.
