Organizing For America, the Democratic off-shoot of President Barack Obama’s grassroots presidential campaign that helped catapult him into office will be holding a Kickoff Strategy Session tonight in Florida City at the City Hall Building. OFA is the logical extension of Obama’s ‘Change We Can Believe’ in campaign theme, with a continued focus on coordination, implementation, and execution of the President’s agenda and positive reinforcement of Democratic politicians and issues within communities across the nation.

Tonight’s meeting is a springboard of volunteer planning and action as President Obama and Democratic leadership prepare to approve major health reform legislation.  Final passage of the historic health reform bill will pave the way for laser-sharp focus on the economic challenges facing the nation.  Since his taking office in 2008, Obama's mandate has been slowed by record Republican obstructionism.

Beginning at 7pm, OFA’s meeting will be an opportunity for current and prospective volunteers to meet with, interact, and provide feedback for group leadership to position Democratic candidates for office and legislators to successfully advance the party’s agenda for 2010.

"Organizing For America has always been a grassroots movement”, says Communications Assistant Ashley Bauman speaking only on behalf of OFA. Ms. Bauman added that the organization was created based on feedback from volunteers, surveys and listening tours that were conducted last year, and seeks to build on the very same momentum that propelled President Obama to victory, and harness it for successful advancement of Democrat initiatives across the U.S.

Tonight’s strategy session in Florida City is one of many being held across the state of Florida, and Ms. Bauman added,

We’re hosting the strategy sessions to connect new volunteers to our mission and our work and receive input from our base of volunteers on the ground as to how we can make our strategy work best in their respective regions throughout the state”.
