June 7th through July 16th: Early voting is an opportunity for all eligible Georgians to participate

Most Boards of Elections offices across Georgia have received their ballots earlier this week and are legally required to mail or issue the ballots to any individual who has requested them. Thus, over the next few days, as each county throughout the state receives their ballots, absentee and early voting will begin for the July 20th Primary.

Some counties  have already opened their election offices for early voting. One example is Gwinnett County.

The following are early voting locations in every county in Georgia.

Georgia Election Code 21-2-380 (b) allows an elector to cast an absentee ballot in person without a reason, Monday through Friday of the week immediately preceding the date of a primary, election, or run-off primary or election without providing a reason.

You may vote by absentee ballot in person if:

• You will be absent from your precinct from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on election day.

• You are 75 years of age or older.

• You have a physical disability which prevents you from voting in person or you are a constant caregiver of a person with a disability.

• You are an election official.

• You are observing a religious holiday which prevents you from voting in person.

• You are required to remain on duty in your precinct for the protection of life, health, or safety of the public.

An elector may cast an absentee ballot in person at the registrar's office during the period of Monday through Friday of the week immediately preceding the date of the election without having to provide a reason.

This election year, Georgia voters have an opportunity to get to the polls early to cast their ballot. Georgia is one of the 34 states that allow its residents to vote prior to Election Day.

If you think you're going to be out of town or prefer not to get caught up in the long voting lines on Election Day, here how you can avoid waiting on long lines and vote early.

Obtain a list of the early voting sites in your county. By visiting the Georgia Secretary of State website, you can download a list of the early voting sites in each Georgian county. Complete the voting application and provide a photo ID.

Cast your vote by mail. Download the Application for Official Absentee Ballot Complete it and mail or fax it to your County Board of Registrars Office. If you're not sure of your Board of Registrars Office, visit the Georgia Secretary of State website and access the County Board of Registrars Offices page to search for the Registrar Board in your county.

Participate in the advance vote. Georgia residents can vote in advance starting Monday, June 7th thru Friday July 16th. You must provide a photo ID to vote in person.

If you decide to vote early on Primary Day (July 20th), Georgia polls open early at 7AM. Visit your voting precinct location to cast your ballot. Getting to the polls early in the day decrease the likelihood of being faced with long voting lines.
