Ugandans. In. Spaaaaaaaace!

BTW... Is There a Manx on the Moon?

There've been three Star Voyagers who were born on the African continent.

One citizen of an African nation has made it into space.

Fourteen Americans of African descent have already slipped the surly bonds of Earth.

But no African nation has ever successfully achieved their own manned space program.

Possibly until now.

Look, Up In The Sky...

The Daily Mail of London is reporting that Ugandan Chris Nsamba plans on cracking the edge of space "sometime next year."

Kept out of the mud by scrap wood and makeshift benches, Nsamba has been constructing his African Skyhawk aircraft in the backyard of his mother's home in the Kampala suburb of Ntinda.

Nsamba is also the founder of ASRP (African Space Research Program), whose official website features a photo of Adolf Hitler shaking hands with an alien.

Afronaut Training...

In an unorthodox approach to space flight training, the Daily Mail has quoted the former astronomy student Nsamba as stating;

"'I have trained my crew (in) advanced astronomy. They are very good at astronomy in regards to calculations and identifications of various space objects.'

And when asked how he plans to simulate zero gravity for training, he said it would be 'easy'.

He added: 'I've got a jet engine on order so I'm planning to build a tunnel, put the engine at one end and when I throw a guy in he'll float in a similar way to how he would in space.'"

Elsewhere In Orbit...

The Mail is also reporting that the United States and Russia... even China and India may have to step aside for being the next nation reach/return to the moon.

Bookies have placed the British crown dependency, the Isle of Man, as the fifth most likely nation to lift-off towards the moon.

The company Excalibur Almaz, a US-Russian company, is headquartered on the Isle of Man, and plans on taking the lead in the space tourism industry.
