Fox News is reporting that Afghanistan's Taliban insurgents are stepping up the tactic of killing the children of their opponents.
Mohammed Daoud, a policeman in Afghanistan's troubled Helmand province, received a threatening phone call from the insurgents to turn himself, police weapons and a police truck over to them in return for his son.
Daoud initially ignored the call, believing it was a prank. Not until it was too late, did he find out that his son was actually kidnapped, then later hung.
The boy's strangled corpse was later found in a ditch.
Not The First Time...
This latest episode wasn't the first child murder conducted by the Taliban.
Last year, a 7-year-old boy they had found guilty of "passing information to foreign soldiers," was also executed by hanging.
In The Meantime...
The Obama Administration continues to press forward with face-to-face peace talks with the militantly fundamentalist Islamist group.
