NC jobless rises sharply - Obama admits job scheme to cost $235,263 per job

Forbes is reporting that unemployment in the Tar Heel State is on the rise... and not by just a little.

"The North Carolina Employment Security Commission states that the unemployment rate for the entire state jumped to 10.4 percent in August from 10.1 percent in July, the highest level since May 2010. North Carolina's jobless rate is worse than the national average of 9.1 percent."

Meanwhile In Our Neck 'O The Woods...

Unemployment figures county-by-county for August aren't scheduled to be released until Sept. 26.

However, the July jobless stats show an increasing trend from previous months.

As reported by the Wilmington Star-News, "Wilmington-area unemployment rose to 10.2 percent in July, compared with 9.9 percent a year earlier."

Over A Quarter Million Dollars Per Job?

Many consider North Carolina to be a battle ground state in the upcoming 2012 presidential election, a fact that hasn't been missed on by the Chief Executive.

According to official White House transcripts, while speaking at a fundraiser held in a Washington, DC private residence, Obama prominently mentioned North Carolina not once, but twice.

"But I will tell you, we intend to keep the pressure on. And I, just this week, have traveled to North Carolina... Before that, right after I made the speech, we were in Virginia. In Virginia we had probably about 12,000 people; in North Carolina about 10,000. And folks are ready for action."

The president very well could be wishing he could have a do-over on his following statement; (Emphasis mine)

"It’s estimated that the American Jobs Act would... add as many as 1.9 million jobs..."

With the initial costs of the American Jobs Act currently totally at $447 billion, and the president admitting that the best this second stimulus program could do is employ "as many as" 1.9 million Americans, that equates that the cheapest it would cost the American taxpayer to create one single job under Obama's leadership would be a total of roughly $235,263 per job.
