"nor did we see the resemblance..."
More than a few people have noticed that the Netherlands based architectural firm MVRDV is planning a twin towers skyscraper in Seoul that bears a striking image to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center of September 11, 2001.
The firm has released a statement saying in part;
"MVRDV regrets deeply any connotations The Cloud projects evokes regarding 9/11.It was not our intention to create an image resembling the attacks nor did we see the resemblance during the design process.The design inspiration of The Cloud is visualised in the first image on our website, a cloud covering the centre of the Sky scraper."
As reported by the NY Daily News, Deputy Chief Jim Riches, FDNY (Ret), father of four NYC Fire Fighters, who lost his eldest son during the terrorist attacks on 9/11, didn't mince words in regards to the Dutch firm's apology.
"I think it’s a total lie and they have no respect for the people who died that day. They’re crossing a line.It looks just like the towers imploding. I think they’re trying to sensationalize it.It’s a cheap way to get publicity."
Jimmy Riches, Jr. was also a former New York City Police Officer.
Jimmy Junior and a fellow firefighter died in the North Tower carrying an injured woman down the stairs on a stretcher.
He would have turned 30 on September 12, 2001 (portrait on slideshow).
