The erection of "Ground Zero Mosque" has generated much controversy in New York because it is to be located in the " eye of raw grief" of the families of the victims of 9/11. Those opposed appear to have lost their last breath of legal hope to prevent the building of the mosque when an attempt to block building the mosque, by having the building declared a historical landmark, failed.
