Around 10,000 Tea Party activists came out to the Tax Day rally on Thursday at the Georgia capitol, according to the early estimates from Atlanta Police and the event organizers.
Neal Cavuto hosted his FOX NEWS show live from the rally and many local Atlanta personalities as well as nationally known politicians gave speeches from around 3 pm to 8.30 pm.
The speakers included Bob Barr, former US Congressman and ’08 presidential candidate and Phelim McAleer, an independent movie producer who’s mike was cut off during Al Gore’s press conference after he asked some questions about validity of the President’s claims on global warming.
Also there were Ginni Thomas, wife of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and Atlanta WSB radio talk show host Herman Cain who might be a possible 2012 presidential candidate.
The main topics during the rally were fiscal spending of the current administration and the direction in which the country seems to be moving under its new leadership. While the Democratic Party took a beating on Thursday, Republicans got chewed out as well for their out of control spending. One of the speakers dubbed them “the Democratic party from 20 years ago.”
The newly passed health care reform was also discussed. “We can repeal the bill and we will repeal it,” said one of the Tea Party organizers to a huge applause.
