Joan Rivers Trumps Annie Duke in Celebrity Apprentice finale

It seems the poker world is abuzz with the selection of Joan Rivers over Annie Duke as the winner of the latest Celebrity Apprentice title.

The two built quite a feud over the course of the series, culminating in Rivers calling Duke, a professional poker player, a “Nazi” and labeling poker players as “white trash” after Rivers’ daughter Melissa was fired.

The outburst even caught the attention of World Series of Poker commissioner Jeffrey Pollack, who, according to the Associated Press, said he’d love to see a woman win the WSOP Main Event this year, “unless that woman happens to be Joan Rivers.”

Pollack went on to say that Duke represented poker players very well in the game, and that “anyone who thinks that poker players are anything other than a great group of people … is absolutely wrong.”

In the aftermath of the explosion, you had to know that Donald Trump’s decision on who was making the final had already been made. The show is all about ratings, after all.

In the end, Donald decided that Rivers was the winner, and members of poker forums were incensed.

“They barely gave Annie any credit for raising ($450,000) compared to (Joan’s $150,000),” wrote Jariso13 on the FullContactPoker.com poker forum. “The whole thing was set up.”

However, poker pro Daniel Negreanu chimed in to say that he thought that Rivers deserved to win.

“Annie obviously did better throughout the whole season, but she clearly lost the final task,” wrote Negreanu. “There were five aspects to the task and Joan won (three) of them. Joan also did a much better job of picking her team, picking Herschel (Walker) first and Melissa (Rivers) last. Annie picked (Brande Roderick) first. That was stupid. A complete and utter blunder and it really did cost her. Had she picked Herschel first, Joan was totally drawing dead. It was Annie's to win, but she made an elementary mistake that a games player should have thought out beforehand.”

It seems that Duke was handed an additional bad beat from The Donald, as she initially thought she had won the contest and began to celebrate when Trump announced the winner.

“I want to thank Mr. Trump for the way he hired Joan Rivers,” Duke wrote in her blog. “In the previous (seven) seasons of The Apprentice he has never done anything but pointed to the winner and said ‘You’re Hired.’ Last night, instead, he looked at me and, after asking if I knew what he was going to say, and said, ‘Annie, You’re Fired.’ Nice slowroll. Good game, sir.”

So what are the odds that Trump invites another poker pro to participate in the next season of Celebrity Apprentice? Negreanu says he would consider it.

“I love competition and it looks like it could be a lot of fun,” Negreanu wrote in his blog. “After watching this season unfold, it actually makes me feel like I should do the show. I wasn't all that thrilled with how the profession of poker was portrayed on the show and I'd like a crack at giving people a different perspective.”

My vote is Tony G – now that’s entertainment.

The idea of a pathetic creature like Joan River having the audacity to criticize others is simply unbelievable. Joan is such a sick bitch that drove her husband to suicide!!..And speaking of being deceitful and two faced--- This woman had more face lift than the entire cast of the Golden Girls .....And her incompetence as a mother is reflected in her daughter who is a complete basket case.....
