So what does the Roman poet Ovid, who was born a year after the assassination of Julius Caesar, and the poetry reading that is happening this Thursday at the Ground Level Coffee House have in common? They both share a way to explore the “Art of Love” through erotic poetry.
Erotic poetry gives us permission to confess to our audience how our imagination titillates us. So if you have a stash of seductive prose that you have been dying to share with someone in hopes of giving them an eargasm, make sure to check out the “E-Zone Pillow Talk I”. It promises to be an intense ride in a land of decadent delights.
The “E-Zone Pillow Talk I” is taking place on Thursday, July 29, 2010 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Ground Level Coffee House. It is being hosted by the very talented poet Azucar McVay. It will be an open mic format.
from Ovid: The Art of Love
Book I Part I: His Task
Should anyone here not know the art of love,
read this, and learn by reading how to love.
By art the boat’s set gliding, with oar and sail,
by art the chariot’s swift: love’s ruled by art.

Thanks for the advance notice, Lorraine. I have a lot of erotic poetry and there are a few I might even read in public. I did an Open Call on Open Salon for the poets and writers to tackle one of the five sentences. I wrote about all five in poetry, prose, and song. Maybe I'll drop by Thursday and read some of it and sing my song, "Tantric Touch."
I'm sure it will be an enchanting evening, if only I were a little closer.
