In his latest adventures, road tripping Los Angeles Poet S.A. Griffin is the Red Baron of poetry. He's about to launch a five week tour across America with The Poetry Bomb, a journey he created to inspire communities using poetry, to foster education and "agree to disagree"
"Elsie" made it back for routine maintenance after her trip to San Diego last weekend, before that, her maiden voyage set out on April Fools Day, 2010. Elsie was the BOMB!
And aside from being a surefire hit, she really truly IS literally, a bomb. Elsie is a former practice bomb that was actually utilized in a practice run during the Vietnam era. Since her fighting days, she's undergone some minor face lifts, and now sports a very cherried Chevy Blue paint job, and flossin' pin stripe detail by Skratch, surely one pin stripe artist extraordinaire.
Now, during National Poetry Month, S.A. and Elsie are about to hit the road again, This time, on a five week poetry road trip across America, her insides stuffed with poetry from around the world given to the duo at a Bon Voyage send off that will take place this coming Sunday, April 25th at 3PM, scheduled to deploy from Beyond Baroque in Venice Beach.
A reading from invited fellow poets will precede the send off and a ceremonious stuffing of Elsie's belly to house the welcomed and donated spoken word artillery that S.A. will assault all ears in his path with, from Los Angeles to Phoenix, hitting El Paso,Texas, New Orleans, Wilmington, North Carolina then North to Chicago. and that's just to name a few stops.
According to reports from the Associated Press, The Poetry Bomb is being watched all over the globe and arousing interest from as far as Taiwan to England. It certainly is making more people aware of poetry, but S.A.'s journeys are fueled by his desire to raise the level of community and education.
"I want people to educate themselves, and I want them to educate each other. I want people to quit living in the dark. I'm using the poetry, the muse as a way to reach out to people to help foster community and education..."
"There are poets from all over the world inside the bomb, and that's really the point. We all live here together, and the real purpose of the bomb is to foster disagreements, as we must learn or relearn to agree to disagree...
That's what warfare is all about to invent and enforce agreements. The Poetry Bomb is just the opposite, it's been created to foster disagreements, so we can learn to get along."
In an effort to support The Poetry Bomb, Poetry Examiners in every city are being called to witness and support The Poetry Bomb by catching this unique and creative journey across America in the name of community and education. and so,
