Spring has sprung.
Before you splurge on that new dress, be confident that it’s the right one. Let’s be honest, everything isn’t made for everyone. Make sure your purchase accentuates the positive.
I believe in four basic body types:
- Guitar- If your body is evenly proportionate, meaning your bust and hips are about equal and your waist is a lesser measurement, you’re a Guitar-girl. I fall in this group; I’m a size 18 on the top and the bottom. Find a solid-colored dress with a straight skirt, and then layer it with a wide belt with interesting details. It will attract the eye to your small waist. Try this dress.
- Wine Glass- If you carry most of your weight in the middle, you’re a wine glass. You’re also standing on some nice stems, so show them. You’re looking for a dress with a high waist; add a long chunky statement necklace. Here's an example.
- Champagne Bottle- If you have a smaller bust and waist, and carry most of your weight in your hips and thighs, this is you. Highlight your top half and it will give you a proportional appearance. Look for a dress with bright colors on top, and a neutral or dark-toned skirt. This would work.
- Streamer- If your body is straight up and down without any curves to get in the way of how your clothing falls, you’re in this category. Most runway models fall here, so lucky you. To add curves, look for a halter-style sundress with ruffles or braiding on the top. The braiding details will add texture and give your bust definition. Here's a great dress I found.

Beautiful article! Here in Detroit, a lot of the women seem wear whats made in their size, not what is for them! Happy to see someone knows what to do!
Like this article very informal for the ladies out here who may seem confused on what is there style or what to look for when they go out to shop.
