CBS Atlanta news first reported this story in May, 2010 of a woman almost bleeding to death during a breast implant procedure at the hands of an eye doctor in Alpharetta.  The Alpharetta doctor, Rajeesh Rangaraj, performed the surgery on Kenyatta Brown and she reported that she was awake the entire time.

Today, CBS Atlanta news reported that this doctor is still practicing even after a claim was made by Ms. Brown, a Lawrenceville mother of four.  Ms. Brown filed a complaint in March, 2010 with Georgia's Composite Medical Board against Rangaraj who is an eye doctor doing cosmetic surgery at the Venus Cosmetic Surgery Center in Alpharetta.  (View today's news video:  http://www.cbsatlanta.com/video/24188258/index.html)

State Representative, Sharon Cooper, chairman of the Health and Human Services Committee, has been following the investigation since she first learned about Ms. Brown's complaint from CBS Atlanta news. Rep. Cooper says "The patient comes first. And I will follow it.  If we can't resolve this, I think we have to look at changing the law that allows Georgia  the medical board - to license physicians by specialty."

Ms. Brown was rushed to the emergency room on February 5th after she nearly bled to death at Rangaraj's office on Windward Parkway.

Dr. Marc Klein, a board certified physician with Premier Image Cosmetic and Laser Surgery, has also filed a complaint with the medical board against Rajeesh Rangaraj.  Dr. Klein was on-call the night Ms. Brown was rushed to North Fulton Hospital.

THIS DOCTOR IS STILL PRACTICING.

The Georgia Composite Medical Board says that what the doctor is doing is not illegal. Doctors only have to have a medical license to perform any procedure in Georgia. They have no control over what the doctor does.

If the Board finds any negligence the doctor could receive sanctions.  It has been five months and the Medical Board has not completed investigation of this matter nor have they taken any action against the doctor.

A case of buyer beware and another case of always do your research. Be sure your doctor is board certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.  If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Having any surgical procedure is not a time to make a choice by which doctor is the least expensive. You want to most qualified, most credentialed and most experienced doctor to perform any procedure be it medical or cosmetic. It is imperative that you take responsibility and educate yourself so that you do not have to experience something as horrific as Ms. Brown's experience with this eye doctor doing breast implants.

Absolutely incredible. How can they get away with this? I thought they had to specialize. Shows what I know but I'll be finding out more. Thank you for printing this article and putting his face out there for all to see. Shame on him and take away his license

Your article today baffles me......did it not concern her that "eye doctor" was on same sign. He could at least conducted
his two practices in adjoining offices or something. Also do plastic surgeons required to have anesthesiologist present or
what certifications do whoever assists him must have.

I hope enough people see this and on the news and do not go to him. It's outrageous that he can still practice. I can see him being able to check eyes but nothing below or above for matter.

I'm with Wayne Didn't she know he was an eye doctor. Where did it say plastic surgeon. Some of this is her responsibility for going for the cheap and not a real plastic surgeon with credentials. It is also crazy that GA lets anybody with a medical license do surgery. CRAZEEEEEEEEE...

Good Lord in Heaven. How obsessed and crazy can some people be. Where did he go to school? Why is he licensed in Georgia? Why is he allowed to buy implants if he's not a plastic surgeon. Greed. Entitlement. That's what's wrong with this country. Crazy doing crazy.

Georgia is controlled by republicans, probably because of the voting machines. Their current platform is to do nothing that is any good to anybody. We should not be surprised. I would however like to know what his price was. If it was half what the legitimate surgeons were asking, the story might look a bit different to me.
