With the Cricket World Cup under way, local youth fans are watching and talking about it at the youth cricket camp held at Marymoor Park in Redmond. They even have their favorite superstars’ moves down. The camp, run by former Australian professional player,
James Crosthwaite, has an international flair with players from the United States, India and Pakistan.

For the past two years the youth
cricket camp has been held primarily at Marymoor. During the coldest, wettest months it is moved indoors to batting cages in south Bellevue. No matter where it is held, these cricket enthusiasts come for training and fun.
The camp is held on Sundays from 2:00 to 3:30 for children ages 5 to 8, and from 4:00 to 5:30 for ages 9 to 11. In addition, private coaching is available. Coach Crosthwaite said, “We are open to have as many people as wish to play. They can all come down and join in.”

Vishwa Gaddamanugu, league representative for the Northwest Cricket League, said that the goal is to set up a training academy here for young players and a club to provide them the opportunity to play. The International Cricket Committee is trying to increase the size of the sport in America, and is thinking about bringing the Indian Premier League (IPL) to America to encourage growth.
That's exciting news for these young cricket enthusiasts.
