The Montgomery County Humane Society (MCHS) has five fabulous pit bull mixes available for adoption, just waiting to find their new families. All five of the dogs featured below have been evaluated for temperament and adoptability, and all passed with flying colors.

Godiva is about 2 years old and has the coloring of Godiva Chocolates! She has the sweet personality to match too, which has earned her the right to spend time at the reception desk after hours. Godiva came into the shelter as a stray and as she has not been claimed, she is now up for adoption. She has been in the shelter since April 10 and is eager to get into a home with a nice family. Godiva is very smart and knows basic commands; she even knows how to "high five"! If you are interested in adopting or fostering Godiva please contact MCHS and reference animal control #244.

At about 7 months old Ana still has a lot of puppy in her! She appears to be a pit bull-pointer mix and has a sweet face with an even sweeter personality to match. Ana walks calmly on a leash and loves to play -- the volunteers at the humane society think she would be great at playing Frisbee! Ana is gentle when she plays and would work well for a family with young children. She needs some training to learn the rest of her commands but she is smart and will pick them up quickly if someone will take the time to teach her. Ana came into the shelter on March 15 as a stray and she is waiting very patiently for her new family to come find her! If you are interested in adopting or fostering Ana please contact MCHS and reference animal control #252.

Rizzo is approximately 9 months old and can't wait to find herself a new home! She has great doggie manners and is always calm and gentle when she is brought out of her kennel. Rizzo is one of those great dogs that seems to get along with everyone and everything -- people, other dogs, and even cats. She has been at the shelter since April 22 and is looking forward to finding her forever home. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Rizzo please contact MCHS and reference animal control #254.

There is nothing scary about this Al Capone! Al is pit bull-Labrador mix who is about 6 years old. He is a great guy whose family had to give him up in March because they were moving to a county which has banned pit bulls. Poor Al does not understand this of course, and he misses living with a family terribly. He is a favorite of all the kennel staff and would make a great new addition to someone's home. Al is housebroken, good with children, and likes most other dogs. This big guy likes to walk around carrying his food bowl and looking for love! He is very smart and already knows some basic commands. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Al Capone please contact MCHS and reference animal control #133.

CoCo is a 1-year-old chocolate Lab-pit bull mix whose owners surrendered him to the shelter in March because they did not have time for him. Labs and pit bulls both are active breeds, so one can only imagine how active CoCo would like to be! CoCo would love an active family who spends a lot of time outdoors playing (he would also probably make a great running partner). More than anything CoCo needs someone who will give him the time and love he deserves. He appears to be housebroken and knows how to sit on command; he does need some basic training for other commands. He is smart and will respond quickly to someone who is willing to work with him -- just look at that eager face, he is willing and waiting to please you! If you are interested in fostering or adopting CoCo please contact MCHS and reference animal control #151.
Did you know that millions of homeless dogs are euthanized in U.S. shelters every year? Adopting a shelter dog is one way to save a life, spaying and neutering is another. Please spay and neuter!
